Does anyone know when USAFA responds to early action submissions?

My daughter applied EA and the website has her listed as:
Status: Candidate
Application: Complete
Early Action deadlines met. Your file will be reviewed for Early Action

She has not received a nomination yet, but does have an interview scheduled with our Senator. So even a yes from USAFA would be tempered by still needing a nomination and final reply from DoDMERB.

Just not sure how soon to start stalking the mailman for a USAFA envelope.

She also applied to USCGA via EA. They promise a yes, no or prep-school reply by 12/24 for their EA1 applicants. Can't seem to find if USAFA has a similar (or any) EA response date.

She has a 'Mailbox' on her AFA Online Application portal.

At some point if she's approved for Early Action she got a Letter and it was posted to her Mailbox. When you open it up this is what it says:

Congratulations! You are eligible for the Air Force Academy's Early Action Program. Early Action is designed to allow you to know your admission status sooner and therefore make more definite plans for your college career. Here is how it works. Complete all your admissions requirements by the 1st of November and the Academy will tell you your admission status by the 15th of January. You will know whether we will offer you an appointment (if
you have an official nomination); offer a Letter of Assurance (if you do not have a nomination); if you are deferred to regular selection; or if you are not selected. If you are offered a Letter of Assurance, we will send a letter to your Congressperson and Senators notifying them of our desire to appoint you to the Academy. Additionally, if you are deferred to regular selection in March, our selection panels will take into account that you met all the requirements
of the Early Action Program when reviewing your file and note your demonstrated interest in the Academy.
The Early Action Program does not restrict you from applying to other colleges. If you receive an appointment, you will have until the 1st of May to accept or decline our offer.

Thanks Pointguard, I appreciate the quick reply.

Do you know if should I read anything into:

Status: Candidate
Application: Complete

Or is that par for the course at this stage?

It doesn't to me, but others

have way more experience. The Early Action deadline has been met, and the File's complete for the AFA piece. Still need a Nomination, and that is a whole 'nother challenge. One step at a time, hurry up and wait!

Do the essays have to be processed for the application to be complete and does anyone know how long it will take for them to be processed if so. Thanks

Seems to me that by definition, since the essays are part of the application, that they would need to be complete for the application to be complete. But then, what do I know?

Early Action complete

Refer to your Instructions to Candidates for requirements. If a candidate is Early Action Complete he or she will receive this information on thier portal:

Application Status

Your Status: Candidate*
Your Application is: Complete
Early Action deadlines met. Your file will be reviewed for Early Action.

Of course the Essays are part of the App.

Only the ALO Eval need not be done before the App is considered Complete. All other things must be in first. How long it takes to be Processed is a function of Admissions and not something to be worrying about. All things are processed as able. I'd be spending my time on my App and not here wondering. Get it all done, in, and move on to a Plan B school's App, enjoy Senior Year, and relax. The process is what it is. Focusing on the minutia doesn't help, getting it done does
.

poinitguard is correct. The ALO eval does not have to be in by the early action deadline, but Admissions highly encourages candidadates to contact their ALO and get the eval done ASAP. Your flie cannot be reviewed until the ALO evaluation is submitted and accepted by USAFA.

The DoDMERB examination need not be complete by the EA deadline to be considered EA complete. However, even though you are EA complete, a final review of you file may be delayed.

Okay so I'm still eligable for early action even though my writing samples are not yet processed?

This is correct. My portal currently says:

Your Status: Candidate
Your Application is: Incomplete
Early Action deadlines met. Your file will be reviewed for Early Action.
What's missing:Liaison Officer Evaluation

I did my interview about a month ago and am just waiting on my ALO to enter it in. I was in quite a panic yesterday when I saw that my app was not complete because of the interview and I thought I would not be eligible for the EA. However, I called my guidance counselor at the Academy and he told me that my app would be accepted without the eval.

My essays took a few days to process, perhaps three or four days or so. If you submitted them before the deadline, and they just haven't been processed yet, then I feel like it might be okay... I don't know for certain though, and I don't want to give you false hope. Call your admissions counselor at the Academy if you want to know for certain! It'd alleviate a lot of concerns you might have!

Last year things showed missing when they actually were not missing. It takes time for the system to be updated.

Early Action

I just wanted to say that my DD had everything completed for early decision and they called her Friday and offered her an appointment!!!!!

Would you mind sharing some of her stats? Such as GPA, test scores, and other related items?

Congratulations!!

Congratulations!!:thumb: Also, If you can, please do share stats. Thanks in advance!!!

DD

She finished everything by the end of August and they asked her to retake her CFA which she completed by the end of Sept. She was eligible for the VP nomination and we were told if she does not get a nomination they will grant her that one. She has a 4.11 GPA and is ranked number 1 in her HS class out of 368. She has 7 varsity letters in track and cross country, and she ran a marathon this summer. She has lots of extra curricular activities and she volunteered and worked and attended Summer Seminar at AFA. We cant believe she got an LOA it was always a dream but she didn't think it would happen!
