Does anyone have an idea how long it takes MOCS to make their nomination decisions. Looks like Cardin is the 1st Senator to conduct interviews this year. In the past Cardin seemed to wait on others. Any sense of these years timing.

Same as every year. They have until Jan 31 to submit their slates. Most will do it sometime in January, based simply on the theory that there is no point in rushing these things. I do expect some folks will start hearing that they have a nomination in December, but don't hold your breath.

Thanks for the feedback. Does having a USNA LOA affect the timing of their slates

No. Slate dates are determined by law. But having an LOA might result in hearing about having a nomination a bit earlier.

Cardin will wait until Mikulski makes her decision. Usually Mikulski and Cardin coordinate to not double nominate. As the senior senator, Mikulski gets the first picks (protocol). I worked with Senator Cardin before and typically he has 200 +/- applying for Navy nomination. But many are non competitive applicants.

Thanks....That makes sense--Seniority has its priviledges. We'll wait to hear from Mikulski's office. Her interviews are next Friday, 11/22, but we do not have a date for Congressman Cummings.

Last year, the Maryland MOC's notified candidates of their nomination decisions before Christmas.

Maryland Nomination Interviews

My earlier post about Maryland nominition interviews indicated that the District 7 interview notifications would come out late December. DS got letter that district 7 interviews will be 12/11 and 12/14. DS has interview tomorrow morning (11/15) with the Junior Senator and on 11/22 he will interview with the Senior Senator. I dont know who is more nervous -- me or him. Then the waiting begins. I am not a patient person. This is one instance of an old dog learning a new trick -- patience.
