BFE

Big Fat Envelope. The envelope with the ultimate in good news.
 
as opposed to "TWE" which is "thin white envelope" which generally is not so good news.

BFE = Big Fat Envelope

This is a cutesy (dumb, in my opinion) acronym used to describe the envelope that typically contains tons of information associated with an offer of an appointment.

Personally, I think all these unofficial, cryptic (to new users) acronyms are dumb. DS = Dear Son? Dumb! Why not just say "my son". DD = Dear Daughter? Give me a break!

TWE? Is it really that hard to write "rejection letter"? That way everybody understands the discussion without the need of a decoder ring.
