So I've heard that VMI was going to start sending out acceptance letters for early decision applicants at around Thanksgiving this year, and I was wondering if anyone has received an acceptance letter yet?

Nope, no acceptances out yet. I've been checking everything: Instagram hash tags, twitter feeds, this site, and still no sign of acceptances.

Hang in there bro, we're both anxiously waiting!

Getting awarded an ROTC Scholarship and being accepted to a college are two independent things. You can get a scholarship to a college you are not accepted to.

Strength and Honor,

I agree with you 100%. I am pulling for you and I hope for your acceptance to VMI! :thumb:

Yeah, the Institute can start sending out acceptances whenever they choose..... Getting antsy here, checking Post View like 3 times a day

The last I heard- everyone will hear on ED by 12/15. That is admittedly 2d hand but it's what we put out at the VMI prospective cadet presentation a few weeks ago in Boston area and htat came from the Admissions office that day.
Good luck- I;m sure good news awaits you soon:wink:

Bruno....DS and I met you ( family from Maine) and the other Alumni at the Boston event...which was very informative and well worth the drive.

DS did not apply ED to VMI but had his whole package complete by Oct 24th. He got notice of acceptance from Norwich 3 weeks ago and is really waiting and hoping to hear from VMI.

We visited VMI two times and I was highly impressed with the sense of history and caliber of students.

Wells- welcome aboard- I do remeber you and your family and I am glad that the presentation was worth the trip. (and in retrospect we should have given out prizes for the longest drive - I think you would have been the winner!)

I'm sure that acceptances for early applicants will start to trickle out fairly soon even if they didn't apply ED.

In the meantime- feel free to ask any questions that you or your son may have- I may not have the answer, but I'll do my best to find out or at least to spin an entertaining story for you if I can't get you the answer:wink:

Hello! My DS is in the same situation. Accepted to Norwich and waiting on VMI (and Citadel). We are from the Boston area but were not able to make it to the alumni recruiting event. Does anyone know (maybe Bruno?) if there will be others events or how DS can arrange for an alumni interview/information session?
We are trying to plan a trip to VMI once we know if he is accepted. Does not seem like an easy commute from Boston to Lexington (2 planes, or one plane and rent a car)? Seems like too long of a road trip!

Any advice is helpful!

I can help you with an interview if you PM me. I can certainly come out and talk with you and your son and there are a number of other alums in the area so that isn't a problem. Just let me know if you would like to arrange.

As far as getting to Lexington- not so easy. Closest airport to Lexington is Roanoke which is about 50 miles away- it's a fairly small airport and is usually fairly expensive- from Boston, no direct flights there. Washington Dulles is about 3 hour drive- lots more flight options. Richmond is little more than 2-1/2 hrs drive- so you might try flights into there as well. Driving from metrowest Boston is about 12 hr drive- avoid NYC at all costs- - Pike to 84 to Merrit Parkway to Tappanzee Bridge to I287-I78- I81 south. Alternative is I84 to I81 - worse weather but often less traffic.

There are still chances to visit to do a Prospective Cadet overnights- there are weekends scheduled in Feb, March and April- you can contact admissions or go on online to arrange: http://admissions.vmi.edu/visit/
