I don't know how I feel about this...

Huh? You want honest commentary on a spoof published in a blog that specializes in publishing nothng that isn't satire?
The first rule of a successful satire is that it draws on elements of reality. So what should we make of this one? That unlike the fantasy that we spawn off for our mothers- there is no high stress job for which the person in it doesn't have alternating feelings of love and hate? Is there anyone who has had a job that they don't occassionally hate while also loving it? the successful commander, leader, manager understands that and doesn't have some bogus expectation that they are always going to love what they do. Company command is all about people-a company commander has to satisfy the people below him and above him- yet he is also evaluated by the comanders above him on the satisfaction, actions and performance of his people. You don't think that everyone who has ever had that job has moments where they hate the people under them- yet almost immediately thereafter love them? For that matter - that's true of anyone in any job(to include parenting) in which they are responsible for people and stuff. Alternate feelings of hate, frustration, love and satisfaction- Grown up world and that is what makes things stressful. Every good job I ever had in the Army and in the corporate world, I ended with a huge feeling of relief mixed with regret- "I had successfully survived" yet mixed with " I will miss this because I loved an awful lot of these people". I don't know anyone who doesn't feel that way.

This post was met with a long slurp off my coffee and a deferential nod to the good Lieutenant Colonel. Well said, good sire.
