Hi All!

So today I queried the 16 members of my senator's nomination committee with the following question: "If a student is in JROTC or CAP or a similar militarily affiliated organization (Sea Cadets, CCC, etc.,) what are your thoughts on them showing up here in uniform.

FYI...the 16 members on our board consist of retired officers in the grade of Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel, a Navy Captain, several lawyers that are former USMC and USA officers (infantry all) and a couple of folks with ALO experience.

The unanimous consensus was: "I actually think it's pretty neat to see, provided the uniform is spot-on, and their grooming meets military standards. It shows us what the person would look like in uniform and shows what type attention to detail they have in a quick glance."

I thought I'd share this since this question comes up all the time in our forums!

And the second part...I WAS OUTED by a young person interviewing today. I walked into the lobby to collect this person...we're walking back and she says: "Are you flieger83?"

I asked: "Why, whatever do you mean???" (how'd she figure this out???)

"Well...I'm really active, along with some friends, on this place called the SA Forums...and there's this guy...and he's in our state, an ALO, and tells some things about interviewing..."

BUSTED!! :help:

So...RP if you read this...don't tell all the secrets!! You'll destroy my "cool points!"

That's usin' your noggin' in the uniforms question flieger. Thanks for doing that because as you say, it comes up all the time.

Sorry to hear you got busted though. The correct response in this situation is "I bet you ask that of all the guys!".

Flieger83,

I also guessed that this was you at the nomination interview, but I thought it would make it awkward in the occasion that I was wrong.

I was the first person you interviewed with, if you remember who I am. I received a nomination to West Point.

Nomination Interview in Uniform

For my nomination interview, I wore my uniform. Marine Corps Dress Blue Alphas. As a second year cadet in the only MCJROTC program in Central California, it was a privilege to show up in proper uniform and nail the interview with a small bit of humor. I earned the nomination from CA Congressional District 21, David G. Valadao' office. I have also received and accepted the appointment to the United States Naval Academy.

LOVE this!
