what happens if your GPA falls below a 2.0 while you are a completed cadet. I will graduate until the fall 2014. It is taking me 5 yrs because my major changed. Will they drop me from the arotc program or will they just let me finish and graduate and commisson in the fall because I am already contracted.

Thanks

I agree because if any of them are below their requirements for your major, you maybe having to re-take the class(es). If that is the case and you still have 2 more semesters, your credit load is going to get bigger due to re-taking the course(s), which increases your chances of getting another semester(s) of low cgpas.

It is interesting that AROTC only does 4 yrs. if the cadet is on a 5 yr program. For the AF, the cadets become a 700 that 5th yr., thus they are still in the program per se.

Several factors: is your institution gpa or semester gpa going to drop below a 2.0? Because, most schools will not allow you to graduate with an overall gpa lower than a 2.0, in addition, neither will the army commission you.

If your gpa is going to drop below a 2.0 for the semester only, it is dependent on what your PMS decides to do. He can either let it slide or disenroll you. Regardless of your status as a contracted cadet, ldac qualified or not.

And arotc does allow for completion cadets, as ms5s

You should contact and meet with your cadre so they can assist you in both graduating and commissioning

And furthermore, in these lean budgetary times, I certainly wouldn't want to be pushing the envelope.

It will only drop below for the term not semester. if he disinroll me form the program will i be allowed to finish college or will I have to go in the army since I am on a rotc scholarship?

I am only on a 4 year scholarship and I have completed all rotc classes but because of major change it added 3 more semester and a coulbe of classes I had to re take.

The most likely outcome, if you are disenrolled, is that you would have to pay back the scholarship monies you have received. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's happened a few times to posters on this forum.

I agree with Kinnem, the chances are in this climate where they are downsizing IF they disenroll you they are probably going to come for the money that was given to you attend the college. They will make a re-payment schedule, and it will include interest.

In yrs., past if one semester drops below the min., they would place you on academic probation, and you will need to bring it back up to meet the requirements, at least AFROTC does that.

First step would be...

Well, the first thing you need to do is advise your PMS. They will be able to tell you what will happen... no speculation needed.

From what I experienced, some of the factors that will come into play are whether or not you are slated for Reserve Duty, Reserve Commission on Active Duty, or Regular Army. If you are slated strictly Reserve Component, you can commission and finish your degree a semester or two later without problems. If you are slated for Active Duty (as RC or RA) you may be under the gun, but that doesn't mean you can't squeak in that extra semester to get your grades up. After all, most universities won't confer a degree to someone on academic probation.

The most important thing you can do is tell your cadre ASAP. They hate surprises when it comes to things like this.
