Past Drug use issues?

My DD received an LOA back in October and found out yesterday she received a nomination :). We are very happy. The only issue that came up in her NROTC interview was past drug use. She, being honest and owning up to her mistakes, told them she experimented with marijuana twice back in 9th grade, 2010. She deeply regrets it and is MUCH more mature now. Will this be an issue with USNA since she already has an appointment on the way? I was reading when she fills out her forms she will report it then and it will most likely go before a character review board. Her recruiting officer indicated it might be for NROTC. Thanks for your responses!

Experimenting twice will probably not be an issue that keeps her out of the Academy, or even NROTC, although a waiver will be needed. Remorse and regret are appropriate and should be shown. I do know of people in NROTC who experimented a couple times and had to get a waiver.

If there is a spot in the USNA/NROTC application where she should have declared this earlier and didn't, then THAT could be an issue. Only time will tell on that one. I've seen them go either way.

Has she had her DODMERB exam yet? I know there is a question regarding past drug use on that paperwork.

Yes, she has been completely honest whenever asked, amd admitted it on DODMERB

My son is in a similar situation regrading a past drug issue. I was wondering what the status of your daughters packet is. Is she going to get an appointment since she had an LOA and will she have to talk to the review board. Also, did DoDMERB find her medically qualified? We were wondering since we are currently waiting on my sons DoDMERB results.

Yes, dodmerb found her medically qualified, and we are waiting on the BFE since she has an LOA and a nomination!

One last question regarding this issue. How will she report the experimentation to admissions? She already received an appointment, so isn't it basically a done deal? How likely is the character review board to revoke an appointment based off two time marijuana use back in 10th grade? I am just really confused on this as is she. The air force had a spot to report it on the application, but navy wants to know after an appointment is given? She has been honest throughout the entire process on everything. Any answers would be great! Thanks!
