I logged in to my DoDMERB account today and found out I did not meet the standards for all 3 of the academies I'm applying to. The cause was this:
D155.70 Myopia - refractive error greater than -8.00 diopters (spherical equivalent)
It seemed like my hopes had been crushed. However, then I took a look at the prescription for my glasses.
OD: (-6.00) - (2.25) x 177
OS: (-6.75) - (2.00) x 008
Now, I'm no optometrist, but according to my research, I believe the first numbers (the -6.00 and -6.75) should be my diopters of Myopia (nearsightedness). If I'm not mistaken, shouldn't I be within the limit? And this pair of glasses was just prescribed in August, so it couldn't have changed that much with my eye exam having been in October. Or am I missing something here?
I'm heading to my optometrist tomorrow to see how this works. Maybe there is hope?
