Well….we were completely surprised tonight when our son decided to check his various portals and was welcomed with "CONGRATULATIONS" on his NROTC Scholarship Portal!!

He was awarded a 4 year Navy Option Scholarship to Drexel University!

I can't begin to tell you the relief and happiness we all feel here right now!
Thanks to anyone and everyone who has guided us here on this forum!

Congratulations! Awesome! Bravo Zulu! :thumb:

Thank you, kinnem!
You surely couldn't have known this, but I have followed with great interest your wise words on here over the past few months.

You are far too kind. Wise is not necessarily the word I would use!

Thanks Trey!

It's a City School…and very appealing to my son!
Although this is his Plan B, he is thrilled!

University South Carolina!!

Thanks for the heads up!! After looking at your post we checked and our DS got his first choice to University of South Carolina!! He has had his app in since August and has been anxiously waiting to hear! Great Celebration tonight!

Congrats to all! :thumb: When was your application completed? Can you share any test score stats/grades and tier major selection? DS had his application completed since mid September with no news yet. Good to hear things are finally moving forward again!

Congrats to your DS! It's great to have plan B locked up! It's a great NROTC battalion at a beautiful campus. Of course I'm biased as DS is a MIDN 2/C there. Go Gamecocks! :thumb:

Hi OrionT-56!

My son's application was submitted in October. He selected a Tier 1 Engineering major at an in-state private school.

Congratulation to the winners! I have completed my app in since mid July but the status still displayed "No decision has made". Yes, been anxiously waiting to hear news...I applied for all AROTC, NROTC,and AFROTC but not sure how high of my chance of getting one. Here is my qualification

Remember -- getting an ROTC scholarship does not guarantee you admission to the schools you list. As was told to a previous poster, the UC schools are VERY competitive, taking the top 1-2% of students. The average GPA for UCDavis this year is 3.96-4.24; average ACT is 26-31.8; average SAT is 1790-2110. If you did receive a scholarship to UCDavis but didn't get admitted, it's sometimes possible to transfer the scholarship, but not always. And from what I've read, you have to wait until April (?) to request the transfer, it has to be approved by both schools, etc.

What is your IS (in-state) school?

Your posts prompted me to take a look this morning and lo and behold...my DS was awarded NROTC scholarship to MIT. He had his NROTC stuff in by September 1.

Congrats everyone! This is very exciting...I just texted my son to check his portal as he's already left for school. Hope to be able to post good news soon.

Very exciting!

DS received a scholarship to his first choice - Virginia Tech! He had his package submitted around August 1. Go Hokies!!

Texted my DS to check his portal and he just texted me back that the status hasn't changed...drats! Although NROTC Scholarship is his plan B I hope DS gets positive news soon.

Congratulations to all those who have received good news!
