My DS received a Principal Nomination from VA 7th District MOC in early Dec. The WP portal was updated on Jan 3 to reflect that nomination, but it does not appear to indicate that the nomination is Principal. The check went green and the line reads VA07.

Just wondering if anyone knows if a Principal Nom should look any different in the portal?

DS's application has been all green, other than the nomination since September, yet he never receives any communication from WP. He doesn't need to be coddled, but an occasional email or phone call recognizing he is a viable candidate would be nice.

DS received a principal nomination and does not appear as such on his portal. Your letter or notification from MOC will indicate whether it is principal or not.

You're right!....

You're right, he doesn't need to be coddled. If you do have a prin nom WP will have record on this even though its not indicated on your portal.

BTW Congrats!!!!

Principal nominations do not look any different on the candidate's portal than a competitive nomination. If your DS or DD receives a principal nomination and they are 3Q, they WILL receive an offer of appointment to West Point. If this year mimics the Class of 2017, those offers will go out in the first wave of appointments the last week of February. Your DS or DD most likely will receive a personal phone call from their nominating MOC prior to the mailing of the BFE. Congratulations!

I received the call from my MOC earlier this week. Does that mean that USMA is sending out the officials sooner than February?

Calc123, not sure what call you are referring to at this point. The call from your MOC that you have received a principal nomination? Or are you referring to a call from the nominating congressman or senator himself/herself that they have been contacted by West Point admissions and you have been selected for an offer of appointment? They are two very different phone calls. Also are you a high school student, prior military, recruited athlete....?

Telephone call?

Soooo what was the conversation about?

BTW, the first wave of BFE will be sent altogether.

I'm sorry I didn't clarify. I meant to say that it was from USMA for a appointment to the academy. I have a LOA. I was just wondering when they were sending out official officers.

West Point will be officially sending out most of the officers on May 28th this year.
