My son is attending MMI this year on a scholarship. Has anyone recieved an appointment from there yet?

My ds has not...now I remember how difficult the waiting game is! But if he had a good first semester he should be good. Any idea if they let the school know in advance of the bfe arriving?

MMI not the first to know a few years ago

When my DS went to MMI a few years back, the first party notified was the nomination source (MOC) that the appointment was allocated to and the school was not notified, even though my DS had gotten a ROTC nomination from the PMS at MMI.

I could possibly see that if the nomination was allocated to the PMS for a ROTC nomination then perhaps the PMS would get notification and possibly be allowed to inform the cadet candidate of the appointment, just a guess, so unless things have changed then MMI is not the first to know (wasn’t then anyway).

You could contact MMI and ask them what the historic behavior has been regarding if/when they get specific notification of their cadets getting appointments from any SA, too.

The wait is terrible!
DS got 3 A's, 3 B's and a pass. Not sure how strict they are with b's....He did get a email and it seems they should know at least before march 8th. There will be a dinner in Birmingham for the kids with an appointment. I

Same here. Waiting is getting a bit monotonous. DS is also at MMI AoG with JWP's boy. Once the nom comes in I'll feel much better. Sounds like most of the AoG's have done very well in regards to grades. If history repeats itself, all AoGs from MMI will be at RDay this year. Incredible program at MMI. Wouldn't have wanted him to go any other route other than this.

And keep in mind WD - your DS does have an ROTC Nomination - though I am certain his MOC NOM is just a matter of time. I thought people on the East Coast were always moving fast and in a hurry? Guess someone should tell that to your Congressmen and Senators! LOL!

good program and what's more, they have an extra level of peer support when they get to West Point. They will make new friends, obviously, but they will continue to lean on their comrades from their Prep year.

No kidding, right? Soon enough, I suppose. Not sure how much weight the ROTC nom carries though. How was the dinner for your son?

I believe no matter where at West Point, they'll remain very close. Its something they have unique to them. You're right, I think they'll find strength in each other.

LOL! Of course we are! NMMI was a very strong option for my DS! How has hte program worked out this year? ANy news from the NMMI front? BEst of luck and hope to see you this summer in New York!!!

It has been a pretty productive year for me. The advisors gave the option of letting the preps go to a supplemental chemistry club on Tuesdays, instead of going to PT, and it really helped most of us in chemistry. Most of us went to the chemistry club because we are pretty lazy.. But it's okay because it really helped. We ran PT with ROTC Monday through Friday in our own prep and took the APFT every month for the first semester. During econd semester only the West Point preps were required to PT with ROTC and the rest of the preps had the option to do so or not.
