I am interested in visiting the Naval Academy and wondered if there are any good places to go or do on the yard or in Annapolis its self. Thanks for all your help!

If you are a candidate or soon to be one, go on their web page and look into the candidate visit weekend. I went to that and had a blast. If you are not a candidate, I'd find a time where there is a big event going on to go. You can see the whole campus in a pretty short time, so I'd try to add something to my visit, say an air force game.

Start by visiting <www.usna.edu/Admissions> to get an introduction to NAVY and look into the visitation programs they have: STEM, Summer Seminar, CVW, so on. You also might check <www.navysports.com> if you hope to be a varsity athlete at NAVY; there are several camps available - just check that tab on the home page. Enter the Yard (aka campus) through Gate I and stop by the Admissions section for one of the briefings. You also can arrange a tour, visit the gift shop, and snack shop there. The tour is pretty barebones, but will get you around the Yard and help you get started on exploring some of the academic buildings, etc. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

As a parent with a DS who has applied, we attended the Parents sessions of the CVW.. it was great. I do suggest if you are just touring to attend the noon formation in front of Bancroft Hall... it is really amazing to watch the young men and women. Best of luck.

the naval musuem is a must see and you should allow about 2 hours to see it.

For us, the stop at Chick & Ruth's Delly (no that is not a typo) was a great way to wrap up our visit. Great sandwiches, crowded restaurant and killer milkshakes. It's just across the way from the NA entrance.

Is the campus very big? We will go to CVW this weekend, and the problem is we won't have a vehicle. What do they do at the Parents session? Thank you!

You are not able to drive on the yard. It is all walkable and Annapolis is right outside the gate.
