Hello everyone, yesterday my congressman called me to tell me i have been accepted to the United States Naval Academy. He told me he got an email from USNA and said he wanted to be the first to tell me. Is this 100% legit? I'm concerned just because I haven't gotten the BFE yet, so has anyone else ever heard of this before? Thanks everyone and hope to hear from all of you soon.

They do it all the time, and I'm sure they wouldn't lie to you.

Congrats.

Congrats dude!! Just a quick question: did you have a principal nomination, a LOA, and are you a recruited athlete?

Well...

Depends. Is your Congressman Democratic or Republican?:shake:

Nope no principle, LOA, or recruited. Guess they are starting to appoint regular candidates. I am so excited, can't believe my dream is coming true and I cant wait to meet all my classmates!!!

Again, congratulations! I've got a principle nom, and my app was completed January 6. I have literally convinced myself that a decision will be in the mailbox every day.

Waiting is tough, but it will be worth it in the end.

You're in. Congrats! My son received the call last week. Received the BFE in the mail today.

Congrats to your son! To both of you: how long after a completed package did the call and then BFE come?

skelly66 - my son had his application completed months ago. He received notification of his principal nomination in early December. Last week Monday he received a call from the MOC that the USNA was going to offer him an appointment. Today we received the official package (BFE). As long as you are qualified, medically, academically, and CFA, you should get an appointment. Be patient and good luck.

Even if your DS resides in the same district he is not "doomed." It's very common for more than one person to be appointed from the same district, from the same school, even from the same household.

Congrats

Congratulations Nstovallkurtz on your great news. I Day will be here before you know it.

Thanks a lot!!!! At first, I didn't know if a MOC could deliver such news, but I am very happy to say the least. Are you class of 2018 as well?!?!

A long standing general rule at USNA has been to give MOC's the courtesy of the opportunity to be the first to break the news of an offer of appointment to the successful candidate or his family. I can vouch for the fact that this has been effective for more than fifty years because that is how I learned of my appointment. A courtesy you might extend to your BGO would be a message advising that you had received an offer - while he may have his suspicions, he won't see it on his Candidate Summary roster for about a week.

Yes my DS will be a part of the class of 2018. It is an exciting time for these future leaders.
