So what is the latest for other graduates in UPT training? Our son's class started on time in November at Vance AFB. They finished the Academic portion yesterday and start the ~5 month T-6 phase today. So far, thankfully, they have been on schedule. Hope it stays that way. What's happening at other UPT bases? Those in followon training after UPT - are you on schedule?

UPT

My son started UPT at Laughlin AFB on November 21. This week all of the AFA grads in his class (15-03) were pushed back to class 15-04.

So how does the pushback work? Are they just idle for ~4 weeks?

TwinB started at Whiting Field in July , 2012, was transferred to Vance in November, 2012, and will graduate in may 2014, we hope.

Twin A had his casual at USAFA then went to Del Rio last February. He'll graduate UPT there in April.

Lots of traveling in my future this spring!

Son called this evening after Dollar Ride today. He said he thought his class at Vance (15-03) was the last class to not have some pushed back. He knows a guy from the Academy at Vance that was scheduled to start in Jan. that has been pushed back to March.

Yup we got briefed on the severe maintenance issues yesterday here at Del Rio. I was slated to start next Friday. No official word yet but my class was told we would all be pushed to February since Decembers class is washing back to take our places next week.

Boils down to massive failure in ain't weave contracts, supply chain, and labor.

UPT

Yes, I would expect that the pushback of the current UPT class at Del Rio will most likely affect the start dates of future classes.
DS said they would be having "academic reviews" during this waiting period so they don't forget what they've studied since November!

Well that was some poor cell phone typing. I meant maintenance not "ain't weave." No one around here has a decent weave, so that can't be it.

The plan here (that may not work out anyway) is to slightly increase class size so the number of people bumped in subsequent classes is fewer. For example, my whole class pushes, 75% of the next class, 50% of the next, 25% of the next, then back to normal. But with their maintenance issues, not many have hope of that working out....

Son's F-16 FTU class is on schedule to graduate in March as planned. They haven't been delayed by any of the budget issues or maintenance problems. His class is done with air-to-air training and is almost done with air-to-ground. He will then have a section on SEAD/DEAD before graduation. He flies about every other day and is having a blast. They're all very busy, too, since they got their base assignments last month and are all making arrangements for moving their families and buying houses or finding places to live.

Here is a video he sent of a sortie to the range to drop 6 Mk.82 bombs and fire the cannon a bit:

Curiosity, anyone know about Columbus?

I have no bone in the discussion....DS is with fencer's twin at He!! Rio. April is still his wing date...fingers crossed.

However, if we have a bad hurricane season I would expect due to weather the students there could also see their classes backed up a lot. Their weather cats are really low due to experience.
~~~ Or if the AF is sending more to Columbus now because they are not backlogged like Laughlin and Vance, and they start to send them there, than theoretically couldn't Columbus become delayed in the near future?
I haven't heard anything about Columbus. They claim, here, that all the bases are affected....but I take ANYTHING I'm hearing with a grain of salt.
AETC is still sending people in droves here. They can't fix themselves quick enough.....adaptability is lacking! A large batch of ROTC grads just arrived about a week or two ago. They are learning what it feels like here!
Can you ever adapt to a town that doesn't have a Target within a 20-30 mile radius?:shake::redface::shake:
If so Del Rio is you place.
But PIMA... their Walmart has an English speaking interpreter! AND, they have a public library. I know. I've seen it. :)
Thank the UPT gods! Four of us AD guys and girl survived the wash back.
Academics will be interesting. We will just take 9 of us (3 guard/reserve and 2 Saudis) and go through classes together and then join with the 15-04 wash-backs on the flight line.
And I avoid Del Rio's Walmart like the plague. Well, any Walmart for that matter. Amazon Prime is my saving!
I still haven't gotten over the lack of a Chipotle... Target, Panera, and a nice movie theater are next on that list. But at least we have a Starbucks!
