My DS received his BFE around Christmas (what a present!). He promptly signed and returned it along with a self-address envelope for the return of his birth certificate. He received the birth certificate back 10 days ago and we were all wondering what sort of communication he can expect next and the timing of that communication?

In about mid April, he will receive a Permit to Report Package. This will be a lot of paperwork to do. About as much as the original application. There probably will not be much if any communication between now & then.

Congratulations on your appointment!

Your post is helpful. DS was wondering would there be subsequent communications with the admissions office and there havent been any. In fact, there wasnt even a note in the envelope when they returned the birth certificate that he sent in response to the offer of appointment. We will patiently await April and wrap him in bubblewrap during lacrosse season.

There will also be some online placement tests & validation tests (mostly for Calc.) that will need to be completed. This too is a fair amount of work and will take some time to complete.

The bubblewrap comment is funny but accurate. Our DS broke a bone in his hand between receiving his appointment and I day. It was a lot of red tape, but he was there on I day!

If it were up to us, he wouldnt play lacrosse. But he is so committed to his team and the coach that he doesnt want to let them down. When do the validation tests occur? He mentioned that he would need to validate the AP Calculus. I hope that doesnt coincide with finals.

I can't exactly remember the deadlines, but for sure by I Day. You are able however, to take these tests online at your convenience, so you will have about a 60 day window.

Then during Plebe Summer there will be another round of validation tests for additional subjects. Our DS was able to validate Calc 1 and two semesters of German.

what does BFE mean? sorry I am new and don't know the lingo. Also, what does DS mean?

BFE -- Big Fat Envelope -- what appointment docs come in
DS -- Dear Son

There is an acronym list out the forum, but I don't have the link handy.
