Hello,

On December 30th, I received a principal nomination to the Naval Academy from my Congressman. I am under the impression that if I am triple qualified, I will receive an appointment to USNA. Despite this, I also received an email from the admissions office stating that I needed to send in my 7th semester transcript before a decision could be made on my application. My transcript will be sent by my counselor this week to Annapolis. Does anyone have an idea when I should hear from the Naval Academy regarding my application? Thanks.

Go Navy!

On top of that, I am also medically and physically qualified. Any insight that anyone might have would be great! Thanks.

Soon after they receive your transcript, providing it is satisfactory, you will likely get a BFE in the mail. 3Q + principal= appointment. Congrats!

Seventh Semester is a formality. Don't get medically hurt or flunk everything. You are in. Congratulations. Welcome Aboard.:thumb:

You can edit your posts for a certain amount of time after you make them if you'd like :thumb:

It took 3-4 weeks from the time my son received his principal nom to the arrival of his BFE. He sent his transcripts as soon as the semester ended--before they asked for them.

So, my DS is waiting to hear from admissions just like the majority, but has not received a request for any senior year transcripts. Any idea whether this is a bad sign, good sign, or ???

I wouldn't worry about it. My DS is in the same boat. He's also in the top 2% of his class, with a 35 ACT. Perhaps those getting the transcript requests are clear vacancy (Principal nom) winners, or LOA holders .... don't know for sure.

Requests for first semester grades are usually made for those candidates where, fairly obviously, USNA would like to see another set of grades, especially in courses such as calc and physics, which are usually taken senior year.

The fact USNA has not asked could mean either that they are already satisfied with grades (and thus don't need to see more) or that even great grades as a senior won't make a positive difference (so no real need to see them). Those in the former category could have other "weaknesses" in their records, such as low test scores, poor recommendations, etc. So I would not take it as necessarily a positive or negative that additional information was or was not requested.

DS never received a request for transcripts, but had them sent as soon as grades posted--BFE arrived days later. Honesty don't know if a request would have come had he not sent them when he did.

Given the "processing time" for BFEs (namely that USNA gives your MOC a full week to contact you after the decision has been made before sending out the BFE, if the BFE was received "days later" (as in fewer than 10 days, my guess is that the updated transcript didn't make a difference. Still, I'm sure it didn't hurt and probably gave everyone more peace of mind.

Congrats on the appointment!

Considering the fact that I have a principal nomination from my congressman, what is admissions going to use my 7th semester grades for? To make sure that I'm not flunking anything or goofing around?
