I will be attending CVW at USNA in March! What would you recommend a girl wear? (An Arizona girl not used to the cold weather, none the less.)

Also, is bringing cookies for my host midshipman a good idea? Thanks!

Hi kayla, I'm attending too, and im from NY so it's a tad colder up here.
(In March) If you have a winter jacket bring it, otherwise I think you'd be chilly but fine with a Hoodie, and a contains 3ish layers. I mean it all depends on the forecast I guess.
If you're going in February definitelybring a Jacket.

Don't be a slob but don't be overdressed either, for guys a button down with khakis works well and for girls something comparable will be just fine.

Yes remember the cookies
And address your midshipmen
Host as Mr or Ms._ until invited to use their first name. Show some politeness
But also be loose with things. Also have some very good manners and try to make a good impression so that they remember you.

I'm also going to the March CVW. USNA's website says that a polo shirt and jeans are acceptable during the day. Is it a safer bet to go with khakis and a button down? I don't want to feel underdressed. Also I was wondering if the Midshipman we are assigned to fills out any report on us like they do at NASS, or is the visit more-or-less undocumented?

I plan on skipping the jeans. I feel it's far better to be overdressed than underdressed. Especially since CVW will be my formal first impression! Every bit counts.

On the confirmation email it states:

ATTIRE--Appropriate attire for the weekend will be tasteful, comfortable, casual clothes. Acceptable clothing includes jeans, shorts, polo shirts, blouses and sneakers. Students must wear closed toe shoes.

I'm going in April, but the best thing to always remember is workout gear because chances are they're going to push you to your limit while you're there.

Maybe, maybe not. You'll be shadowing a MIDN, so depending on what he/she does will determine what you do. My DS went in April last year and didn't do any PT. He did play squash with his MIDN and his roommates on Friday night. They were all swimmers. DS never saw the pool. Read on here that someone else attending CVW did swim. So best advice is to be prepared with workout clothes, but don't expect to be put to the test. CVW is for the candidate to get an glimpse of USNA and life as a MIDN. It's not like NASS or SLE (USMA) where you'll have set times for working out.
