Has anybody who has been appointed received a bfe? Not the letter on parchment but an actual big thick envelope? DD was appointed a few weeks ago on the same day her friend was for CGA. Friend received a nice certificate and other paperwork about a week later, but DD has not. Just wondering if AFA has changed what they send. FYI, she did accept online the same day and returned the letter as well because she is under 18.

No BFE for DD, yet. I suspect that will come when she accepts the appointment. My suspicion is that this is part of the cost cutting plan. Everything is online now.

Maybe, maybe not. Can't speak to what USAFA protocols are but for WP, as an example, DS received Senatorial phone call of appointment first and then BFE (with formal appointment in faux leather folder etc.) arrived within 5 days. No cost cutting on that as its beautiful and worthy of framing.

Ive accepted an appointment but no BFE for me either yet

Like Damarkodixon, I have accepted my appointment and have not received a BFE. I would be nice to have a BFE, but if USAFA has gone to an all-online system, not receiving one isn't a big deal.

True, I could be wrong and probably am. It's been known to happen :shake:

It's been 2 weeks since she's been appointed (and the letter was actually dated Jan 8) - no BFE

They may simply be waiting to batch up a bunch of BFEs togther rather than doing onesies twosies.

DD accepted the appointment the moment it was posted. Here is what the portal looked like after her acceptance was posted:

Your Status: Appointee
Status: Appointment Accepted
Look for travel information and in-processing requirements to be posted here in early Spring.

She did get a parchment letter saying the same thing her portal said about being appointed.

So, I'm not expecting anything until early spring. i think she will be notified by e-mail when something new appears on her portal.
I'm not expecting a BFE.

Its not a huge deal for DD either but it would be nice. Her dad has a nice certificate from when he was appointed to West Point and she was kind of hoping for one of her own. I hope they are just waiting to send a bunch out at once.

No BFEs

There will be no BFEs from USAFA any longer. Appointee kits will go live on the portals starting in late March/early April.

Nice (suitable for framing) certificates are being sent to ALOs and will be awarded to the appointees at your school's award ceremony.

Can anyone tell me what the status changes in the portal might be for AFA? What is the progression before you become an appointee? Thank you I appreciate your input:shake:
