This week, I found out I got nominations to USMA from both of my senators! That means I have 4 nominations: JROTC and my 3 MOCs. When my application is reviewed, will USMA look at my application when they appoint for all four slots, or will I be told how I got nominated after I receive an appointment (IF I receive one). I'm super nervous because someone in my school has already been appointed, and I have had no news yet. The suspense is killing me!:unhappy:

First off, congrats on your 4 NOMS!

Having 4 NOMS means that your name is on 4 slates. So, that is 4 chances to get the appointment. Assuming those are competitive slates (no principal NOMS) then you have a 1 in 10 chance FOUR TIMES.

Good luck, and practice deep breaths, even with 4 NOMS you could be waiting another month or so for news.

Thanks! I have one alternate nom. As for my senators, I was told by one of them that they are competitive slates.

I'm still super nervous though. They asked for my 7th semester transcripts, which is good I guess. I was told I was really competitive, and I was also told I was outstandingly average.

You seem like a very legitimate candidate! 4 noms will allow more flexibility for admissions (they like that). Best of luck to you!

Is being outstandingly average better or worse than being unique, like everybody else? These are puzzling queries that can typically only be answered by those that wear extra medium clothing. The rest of us will remain stupefied.

But seriously Jspar16, 4 nominations is quite a feat. You must really impress in person during the interview process. Get yourself to WP for a visit so others can see what your MOCs apparently know is there.

Congrats on the NOMS and best wishes on receiving an Appointment!

No, most likely you will not know which nomination secured your appointment, unless your MOC or JROTC calls and tells you.

It's also still early in the game ... you may hear anytime in the next couple of months. The other candidate in your school may have an LOA or be a recruited athlete, or got a Principal nomination.

With 4 nominations, you do have great odds. Good luck!

The other candidate is one of my best friends, he had none of those things. His application as actually very identical to mine except he had legacy and better PT scores, as well as a varsity letter

Thank you! I visited WP over the summer, and the admissions officer I talked to pulled me aside and told me that she was impressed with how I carried myself. That pretty much gave me the confidence to go through with my application
