Completed App. How Long is the Wait?

Hey all...

Well, I completed my application. Everything is filled in on my web page except for medical status. I just went to the eye and medical doctors yesterday however. It took 3 weeks to get it all in and delivered to MMA if anyone is interested.

Anyway, does anyone know how long before the admissions office reviews the file?

It's an ongoing process. Not specific time by which they will review any given applicant. I can tell you, if you are a "hold" candidate, you can be called as late as 2 days before indoc! You can always call admissions to ask if they have your completed application.

Good luck

what does "on file" mean?...that it is just on file?

call to confirm

I agree with AMF- make sure you call admissions to make sure they received everything. (and make sure it's the STUDENT that calls, and NOT their parent). Best of luck to you.:thumb:

My understanding FWIW. FWIW is my caveat that a) I don't know everything and b) this is to the best of my knowledge.

On File: Parts 1 and 2 of the Application are complete. Other requirements may or may not be completely finished (i.e. 7th Semester Grades, Nomination, CFA, Part 3 of the App, Medical, etc...).

Conditional: Applicant has a Letter of Assurance (LOA) but it is conditional on one or more items being completed to the satisfaction of the Academy (i.e. Medical, 7th Semester Transcript, Nomination, etc...). Guarantees an offer if all the conditions are met. Converts to Principal once the condition(s) are are met.

Principal: Applicant is basically "in" and should have or will be receiving a formal acceptance package. A Principal may or may not accept the offer. Also known in our house as THE OBJECTIVE.

Hold: Candidate is in the national waiting list if the principals don't accept. This is the "pull from list" that the Admissions Committee will use to fill open chairs. I am not sure if a "Hold" means every box is checked or not. I suspect not since I saw some holds in the forums in December 2013 and I have to believe that 7th Semester Transcripts were probably outstanding.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the encouragement. The web page says everything is in except for medical. I'll check my application website next Wednesday. Until then, I'll give it break and leave the staff alone. I've done everything I can at this point and I need to move on and get other things done.

Ok, I'm dodmerb qualified and it took 11 days post exam. It took about 6-7 weeks time to complete my application. Starting from the electronic app, assembling hard documents and finishing with dodmerb clearance. Just to give future applicants an idea of lead times.

I could have sped it up a week if I pressed my references to giddy up. One teacher took as long as 3 weeks to write his letter and a couple needed me to remind them twice. I suppose some people get busy and forget your needs. Anyway, hope this helps future applicants.

BTW, my application status remains "application on file". I'm glad that I jumped through all the hoops and I'm very grateful to my congresswoman for the honor of her nomination.

Last year my DS was on about the same time table as you are this year. He was notified of his acceptance in March.

Future applicants should be aware that the DODMERB process can take much longer than 11 days. Remedials or the need for a waiver can extend the process to months. Be sure to allow plenty of time for that even if you don't think you will have any problems.
