How often does the Admissions Board at the Naval Academy meet? Also, how often are applicant files reviewed? My application has been complete since September and I recently received a principle nomination from my congressman. I am also medically and physically qualified.

Board meets once a week. How often a file is reviewed depends on a lot of things. Some may be reviewed only once; others more often.

How do you know if your file has been reviewed?

You don't. As a general rule, if your file has been complete for some time (i.e., you didn't finish a few days before the Jan. 31 deadline), you can assume it's been reviewed at least once. However, it is possible that no decision was made at the time (i.e., you were deferred). Files may be reviewed several times (or only once).

Does your BGO know?

In some cases, the BGO knows; however, we are explicitly told not to discuss status with candidates because: (1) Admissions is the official source for this information, and (2) the status can change (usually for the better).

Remember, the fact someone is scholastically qualified does not mean he/she will receive an appointment, only that -- combined with qualified medical, CFA and a nom -- he/she is eligible to compete for an appointment.

But the OP mentions how he has already received a principle nomination. That being the case, being 3Q'd is virtually a guarantee of an appointment. True?

bump. I've actually also been wondering the same thing about how many files are reviewed each week. I imagine they're able to efficiently look over a decent amount but I don't know how long they stay in that room to review.

Are there any specific days out of the week that USNA would notify the congressional offices of the appointments being offered to the candidates in their district?

I have heard that Friday, since Thursday is the said meeting day of the Admissions Board, is the most likely day but this could be wrong.

Also does the board only meet on Thursdays?

Thanks

Admission Board meetings depends on the load. Sometimes they do meet more than once a week, depending on the time of year and demand.

As far as notifications, I really wouldn't worry about that. Just because USNA calls the MOC, doesn't necessarily means the MOC will call you that day or at all -- some do it and some don't.

how long after that friday did you get the call from the MOC or did you get a call? Thanks

Several friends? Wow. What state are you in?

My residence is in Nevada where I have 1 friend who heard earlier this week but I go to school in NY where another friend heard back as well. I have friends that I made at NASS who are scattered who all found out this week though

My DS received his BFE this week out of the blue. He never had a phone call from the MOC, and although he had been waiting and waiting (it seemed), we really weren't sure how long it would take until he heard one way or the other.

The date on the letter was Feb. 12, 2014, which is a Wednesday, so who knows if there is anything to be learned from that or not. I suspect not.

Like most parts of this process, I have learned that just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. LOL.

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear. Big relief in our house this week.
