Question about notification from admissions

HI ALL….

I'm hoping someone can answer this question - if the Academy decides not to offer an appointment do they mail the TWE as soon as they look at your file the first time? Or do they mail those after the admissions have all gone out? Thanks and still anxiously awaiting the BFE!

Over the past couple of years USNA has set April 15 as the deadline to notify candidates of their status. I suspect the TWE's will start hitting mailboxes towards the end of this month.

Typically, they wait until sometime between now and April 15. First, they wait to see if there are updates to your file (which can include the SATs taken Jan. 31). Then they need to evaluate you vs. others with a nom.

TWEs typically (not uniformly) go out in roughly the following order: candidates without completed packages, candidates who are not competitive, competitive candidates who have not received a nom, competitive candidates with a nom (who are "victims" of the numbers game -- too many great candidates for too few spots). In the mix are candidates with medical issues that are not waiverable.

What about the national pool?

USNA 1985 - you indicate that those competitive candidates with noms who are victims of the number game would be notified earlier - but wouldn't they go to the national pool?

I meant to indicate they are notified last in that they lose out in the national pool. My list was roughly the order of TWEs (from first sent out to last sent out).

Academy updates

This week I qualified for swimming Leagues for my high school swim team (varsity) and I was going to wait until later this week when I have more "proof" of my qualification to send in. And next week (the 18th) I will receive a Rotary Club student of the month award, where I'll receive a certificate. Should I be getting these updates sent in as soon as possible, or wait until I have more physical proof to show my RD? I don't want to bother my swim coach or rotary club member with getting a phone call to confirm for me. Yes I know updates go trough a guidance counselor first. Any ideas? :frown:

The best thing to boost your application at this point is higher ACT/SAT scores or higher class rank. An accomplishment award probably isn't going to tip the scales much, IMHO.

True, but it can't hurt  If nothing else, it might show persistence.
