Has anyone received a status email? Thought they would begin notifying everyone today.

Also, does anyone know the application vs acceptance rate?

Thanks!

I was told we would all find out by tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for everyone!

I just checked the website application status and my daughter got accepted!!

The website says: "Selection for this program will be after the close of the application period with notification via e-mail to all students of either Selected or Non-Selected by February 15th."

I just got an email a few minutes ago saying that I was accepted. Good luck to everyone.

Waitlisted :(. Hope this isn't an indicator of what will happen a year from now.

Congrats to those selected....my daughter did’t make it in.

Can some successful applicants post additional information about their app that they believed made them competitive? ACT/SAT scores, leadership, student government, work experience, location, etc.

Thanks and good luck!

I did not get in either… I'm just gonna come in strong for the real app when it really counts and not get discouraged!

Don't be discouraged

Something that gets brought up every year.... Acceptance into summer seminar DOES NOT indicate that you will or will not be appointed to the Academy itself. SS functions in part as a recruitment tool to create interest and encourage people to apply and seriously consider the Academy- different factors are considered for both applications. Good luck and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

Unfortunately I didn't get in either :( is there a way I can possibly know the reason why?

I just got accepted! My GPA unweighted was 3.62 and my class rank was about top 20%. My SAT in reading was 670 and math 690. I didn't have much leadership except for band section leader for two years and volunteering was tutoring kids. I'm from Southern California.

For those of you who have indicated you did not get in, did it mention anything about being waitlisted or was it simply a denial?

I just got accepted! My unweighted gpa was a 4.00 and my ACT score was a 31. I had leadership experience from JROTC. I am from North Dakota.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted. I was also accepted along with 2 others from my school. My SAT score was 2030 and I am from Kentucky.

I was wondering, do we take the CFA test while at the academy this summer? I would love to begin training so I can get one more requirement out of the way.

I got accepted too! My ACT score is a 30. GPA:3.91 Class Rank: 17/355. I have participated in varsity athletics since freshman year, and I am involved in a few other organizations.

To those of you who didn't get in:

Don't be discouraged. I was not admitted to the summer seminar and have received both a nomination and appointment to Air Force. Summer seminar is by no means a requirement for admission to the USAFA.

My flight didn't do the CFA because of the fire this past summer. I know some of the other flights did a practice CFA before we got shut down because of the fire and smoke, but the CFA that you'll take at USAFA doesn't count because of the difference in altitude that many are used to. The CFA that we took at the Naval Summer Seminar counted for USNA, but not for USAFA.

I just got accepted as well! Stats: multiple leadership positions that were largely science and medicine oriented (science olympiad, science bowl, red cross, etc.),4.0 GPA, 2390 SAT, rank 1 of 600 people, active hospice volunteering, youth commission for my city, etc. I was not expecting an acceptance though largely because the only area in which I am athletically involved is in club swimming for 9,10, and 11. Hopefully this still gives hope to those who are more academically inclined :)
