I just saw a thread of a mom stating that her son received a nomination from his "principal" if i'm not mistaken.

Lo and behold, lol, I am in good relations with my principal. We got to know a lot better when I was involved in an altercation a while back. Well actually the dude just came from behind and started punching me in the face haha! And I was commended because I didn't hit him back even though he was ambushing my head. I got some bruises and busted lip. and My earring was ripped out (I don't wear one anymore).

If that's the case I would ask my principal for a lovely nomination, considering I've failed epically to receive one from one of the congress and senator ppl

Although it would be nice, principals can't give noms.

Congress, Senators, or VP. That's it. Sorry.

I saw your other thread, impressive sat scores and extracurriculars....how come you didn't get the nomination? You apply late or something?

No... but my GPA was just awful.

although I have around 8 AP courses taken or currently in,

I've slacked off so much.. due to a broken heart last year (I got so emo no joke, so sad)

and.. I had no motivation. Before I found out about service academies last summer, I was thinking that I would just go to a normal college in my state, like everyone else, and I felt so insignificant with 6 billion people in the world. I wanted and still want to change the world and impact it, but at the time, I had lost motivation gradually as I got nearer to the end of high school.

BUT THEN I HEARD ABOUT SERVICE ACADEMIEs WOOOHOOOO

so I went from 2.57 to 3.4 but I don't think it'll help very much.. because I've screwed up so much in the past.. haha but i'm still trying

so that's probably why I didn't get a nomination :*(

are you a junior or a senior? jumping from a 2.5-3.4 from sophmore to junior year is very impressive. Although if you are the latter, having a 2.5 as a junior is not up to par, you are correct; but still an impressive jump none the less. :thumb:

Chris, a "principal" nomination is one that is awarded by a MOC on a competitive basis. If you are 3Q'd and posses this nomination you are guaranteed an offer of appointment, but in order to obtain this nomination your MOC must rank his candidates and you must be ranked #1 on his list.

Hope this helps, and good luck to you in your applicaiton. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to assist you.

That kind of record is similar to what I had, and I was sent to NAPS. Not a bad thing.

That said (this may sound harsh, but I'm not known for being touchy-feely anyway), you need to get your head unscrewed from your backside right quick if you want to seriously pursue a military career. While it's all well and good (especially in today's pathetic "I'm so green! Look at ME!" culture) to wax eloquent about your place in a world of 6 billion fellow travelers, military leadership requires you to have your head in the game NOW. Being a warrior poet is fine so long as you know when to be a warrior and when to be a poet. Philosophy is worthless when vampires are inbound and you need to manuver to unmask batteries...

Also, you need to realize that your impact on the world comes from YOU, not from where you came from. Sure, USxA can be a great starting point, but it guarantees nothing. Also, if your reason for applying to USxA is to save the world rather than to serve your country as a leader in the Armed Forces, you need to sit back and reasses your priorities.

Thus endeth the lesson. :thumb:

While not the principal, Sr Instructors at award winning Jr ROTC programs have two nominations, and the highest levels of awarded units have an appointment.

BGO and former Jr ROTC Sr Instructor

I'm not trying to disagree with a BGO and SNSI but, I read and was told by my sons SNSI and his boss (CDR of Area 7, most of Florida) that a Distinguished JROTC Unit's Principal can nominate a student in their school/unit to any SA and the SNSI now has up to 3 Nominations ( I may be wrong and that could be 2) to his branch SA. My son got one this year so I know of at least one.

Sounds like you have more current info than I.

A principal nom is not a nom from your school principal. It is the way in which your member of congress ranks his/her nomination candidates. Best of luck. Glad you are recovering/recovered from your broken heart.
