Is this not a good sign about receiving an appointment to the academy if I was just denied the NROTC Scholarship? I talked to my BGO he said the academy has seem my admissions file and I’m qualified all around just no decision yet.

Receiving the bad news about the scholarship has made me stress out!!!

There is no correlation, communication or relationship between your application for a USNA appointment and your application for an NROTC scholarship. You may get one and not the other, neither, or both.

There are a lot of factors that go into awarding a NROTC scholarship. Did you seek a Tier 1,2 or 3 (3's are very limited). When did you put in your application? First boards sit as early asAUG/SEP. What schools did you list as your 5 choices? Each school has so many openings each year. It's a numbers game too.

+1 to Craig. Also, the competitions are very different. The NROTC scholarship is a national competition against everyone applying. The academy application is, at least initially, a more localized geographic competition. You're comparing apples to oranges. Yeah, they're both fruit, but....

The scholarship was completed and turned in on 10/31. The recruiter said it would make November boards but I have never heard anything until just now I checked online it usually has no decision has been made but now it has denied! Texas A&M and UT at Austin... I got accepted to the school.

Sorry to hear it. I would recommend working on plan C while hoping plan A still comes through. As you can tell from my tag line, even if plan A doesn't come through it's not necessarily the end of the road. There are still other routes to a commission. Hang tough. Go forward with quiet confidence. :thumb:

Thanks!

Hang in there and have Plan C ready to go.

I agree with what has already been stated. There is no correlation at all between the NROTC Scholarship and acceptance to any academy. Even the USNA doesn't care whether you received the NROTC Scholarship or visa-versa.

Best of luck to you!

I love you screen-name! My favorite scripture, and very appropriate in this case.
