I've tried calling my admissions counselor 3-4 times in the last few months and only ever received an answering machine (times varying throughout working hours). No email address is listed online for my counselor (apparently other candidate's have their counselor's email displayed). Yesterday, I left a message, for the first time, asking what I believe to be two common questions and haven't heard back today.

How long does it usually take for a counselor to respond? What should I do if there isn't a response? (I said my phone number twice in the message btw)

Thank you.

Keep trying...maybe send an email if you can find one. If all else fails, contact your ALO. He/she will be able to help you and get to the people you need to get to. :thumb:

Thanks for the reply.

I have looked everywhere for an email and haven't found one. Also, my ALO told me to contact my counselor for specific the questions that I have.

It happens, I emailed my counselor before and left messages but never got calls or emails back. I agree with bigcox, keep trying, you'll get him eventually.

^^The previous is from the precandidate instruction booklet online. So you might check that out :thumb:

I'll try that, thanks!

However, I do remember I tried calling a "general" AFA admissions phone number months ago and I told them my question and was immediately forward to the answering machine of my admissions counselor.

under what letter category does your last name fall? I'm H and mine always called me back the same day or a day later, and would leave me a message if she did not get me.

I had called two weeks ago to ask about sending in new resume information. First try I received the answering machine, so I left a message. Next day I called back about 4pm EST and spoke with my counselor. Then later that evening she returned the message, so I took that opportunity to ask about the status of my application. It was then when I found out the CFA gets another try.

I'm Y.

Either those guys are really freakin busy right now, or are taking excessive leave because I'm having similar problem (probably the former). To respond to what someone said earlier, my ALO actually told me to ask my admissions counselor, so I've even stumped him.

Actually it is not only your letter, but the territory you are from. I seem to recall ds's counselors email was similiar to the typical AF email. I.E.john.smith@afa.af.mil Maybe somebody else here can verify that. If it is that way, all you need to know is how to spell their name.

Before you do contact them, have you asked the two common questions on this site? I know you just want answers, but realize that they are very busy getting the files ready and what you may deem as I need an answer, they may not have the answer and thus they can't assist you. Think about it, all of the MOC noms need to be in within the next 2 weeks, than they need to have files updated with noms and 7th semester grades, plus everything else. Add into the fact that they are in charge of updating the WCS for ea applicant. Finally, even though you could update your file by submitting more info during winter break they were gone...that could be alot more files going up for a new WCS .

I am not positive, but I believe the regionals also deal with getting the appt packages together, SLS, and I am willing to bet that they are also starting to chime up the pre-candidate questionnairre for next yr. That is a lot of balls they are juggling right now.

Busy or not and no matter how simple your question, they should be returning your call. Be persistent. Don't shy away because they might have too much on their plate.
