The only purpose of this thread is to say my DS and my husband and I are tired of waiting for a decision! Come on USNA your killing us!

Seriously......waiting for the mailman EVERY day is killing me.

It's a military tradition to hurry up and wait :smile:
 
Yes, welcome to the club. It is torture. But at least waiting is hopeful!
 
Right there with ya!!! Not sure if that BFE would help or hurt the senioritis that has set in big time at our house though:shake:

its just the first of many "waiting" periods. hang in there, you have done everything you can do. enjoy the time with DD/DS these few months they are still at home. good luck:thumb:
 
I know the feeling…excited that DS fall back plans have accepted him but waiting for number #1 and #2 schools are killer.
 
At least you have heard from Plan B or C. :) My DS applied to regular decisions only, so we are double waiting. All college portals are saying that the regular decisions will be notified by April 1st or 15th.
 
Right there with you. Came home from the state wrestling tournament to find DS's first college acceptance letter yesterday. Not having ANY plans has been killer. This is not his first choice school but I breathed a sigh of relief that someone finally told us something!
 
DS has been accepted to his 2 safety schools one of which has NROTC. Still waiting for Navy and 3 others that also have NROTC. But really only waiting for NAVY. He will reapply if he does not get in this year. PLEASE DEAR GOD SPARE ME FROM GOING THROUGH THIS AGAIN.

Taking The Advise...

There have been two long time wise posters that have calmed my waters over & over and all for different reasons. That said I'm taking their best advise.

Building memories with my son and not the process... The process itself will all be over soon and that will then be nothing but a distant memory. The memories with our son will be long lasting.

Like most our DS had his package completed in late June, he is calmer than we are. Even with the NROTC scholarship in hand and his 1st choice school the thought of when lingers; however, the parental memories come back into play and it is calming once again.

Our DS may have just had his last B-day at home on Saturday. It may be many years before he has another with us. He had a great day and it was nice to be with him.

Living life, loving the dream, and building the memories...

Wow thanks for that post. Very wise words to refocus us all for the days we have left with our children. Although I must say we have had a lot of laughs throughout the process and the waiting. Like you our DS has had his application complete since July - except for transcripts. So the wait seems all the longer.

DS waited till pretty much the last minute to apply for plan B and C (about Jan 15)..we were actually surprised to see it on the portal that he was accepted. Just tell him to keep looking, (that's what we did) and sure enough, Saturday night he was accepted to Va Tech.

Awesome post! :thumb: Made me teary eyed. I do remember the "lasts". We already passed the last summer at home milestone. Fortunately his birthday, Christmas and Thanksgiving have not been among them yet, although I'm sure they'll becoming soon. It will be especially hard to take when he is deployed at sea or overseas. You're right. Build those memories!!!
 
In the same boat as everyone else! Looking at housing for plan B, and Plan C is still on the back burner. Hoping I can avoid all of plan B and C with a BFE!!!

I was surprised that you said you saw it on the portal that he was accepted. DS got notified by MOC on Tuesday that he's been accepted. Quite a shock. After 3rd nomination in early January when he hadn't heard anything by the end of Jan we stopped anxiously checking the mail each day. We started to expect the April date. Then out of the blue he got the phone call. Two days later we're still in shock! The realization that DS is gone for good in 4 months has already sunk in! (His older sister has been home 2 weeks top per year after going to college due to athletic and co-op commitments.)
 
This waiting is the worst. This is my second year applying so the tensions are especially high. I tell myself every day when I come home "today is the day" just for the mailman to disappoint me again.
 
The Sr. year is supposed to be something to look forward to and to enjoy. Other students have regular acceptances and are in the process of making future plans and all the fun that goes with that. The trouble with the SA's and military scholarships (and I share your pain) is that they can be so late notifying your DS or DD. It is certainly worth the wait if they get accepted or awarded. However, if not, it is late in the game to get a plan together. You can have a Plan B in your back pocket, but it is difficult to finance that plan that may go unused. Example: My DS's "regular choice" school although deposits are not technically due until May, will have class registration on April 3rd, where the classes can be filled to capacity that day. Prior to that date, Placement tests have to be completed. The SA's and scholarships may not have notified everyone by then so your DS or DD can miss out on their Plan B as well. It's like playing the slots in Vegas!!!
