Are the majority of appointments, that are going to be sent out the week of Feb. 28, the winners for competitive nominations for each congressional district or are they the losers of those districts who have been pulled off the NWL? Thanks for the clarification.

Not sure, my guess is principle noms already received appointments, the next wave will be winner of competitive, and the final round is the 150 NWL selections.

That's my guess too. I'm getting anxious. This waiting kills!

I was told after the 28th , meaning 1st week of March. It will be competitive category winner, presidential nom winners

If you don't mind me asking, where did you hear that?

I was really hoping they would follow the same timeline as last year and the bulk of offers would be going out this week... Looks like another week of anxiety mixed with stress haha

db11usma, last year the first wave of appointments went out the last week of February. 2018's first wave went out the middle of January! Best of luck!

Where do 2Q applicants waiting on medical waivers fall in the process?

Sideline until the waiver comes through. They won't award the appointment for a district if the likely winner is waiting on a med waiver until later in the spring, usually mid-April which is the deadline to be medically cleared.

Verified information - approximately 500 people have been offered and accepted appointments - this number changes daily. These are mostly people with principle Nominations, prior service, recruited athletes, minorities, superintendent's appointments etc. Remember that there are exceptions to everything you hear on this board. The class size will probably be about 1200 but this could change.

I am the FFR for two Congressional Districts. No offers in my two Districts have been made as of this date. Both Congressmen submitted competitive nominations (no Principle Appointments). Candidates had until late February to complete their files. The "vacancy Winners" in the Congressional Districts will be determined within the next two weeks (there are always exceptions).

The people who have nominations and are 3Qd who ARE NOT the vacancy winners in their Congressional Districts will be put on the National Waiting List. At least 150 people (by law) will be given offers from this list.

Thanks Big Nick! We will just continue keep the path to the front door shoveled for the mail man! (We have rural delivery so he only comes to the door with things like BFE's that will not fit in the mailbox!!!).

Thanks. My son was the principal nominee and is just waiting for a waiver.

Thanks for all the information guys. I myself have a principal nomination as well and just received my medical waiver. The nervous wait will continue!

Good luck to everyone!

Zack- If you have a Principle Nomination and are 3Qd YOU WILL GET AN OFFER by Federal Law - unless some important negative information develops like an arrest - DUI, serious injury, suspension from school, etc

When you say 'No appointments have been made in my district,' is this common? Does admissions go in a certain order as they are going thru this process? I haven't seen anything to speak of as it relates to appointments in Alabama. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There's at least one AL candidate on this forum that has received his appointment:

11) cadet85, 01/14/2014, Congressional, AL-05

Not certain but I expect it is. Certainly one thing that can hold up a selection for a particular district is waiting on medical waivers to come through for competitive candidates... at least until April 15. They can't make a decision in that scenario until all the information is in hand.
