Appointment after Scholarship rejection?

Just curious how many people have received an appointment offer even after being denied an ROTC Scholarship.
Obviously my DS received the Scholarship reject letter but has not received word from USNA yet. I guess I want to know if we are still in the hunt and not alone in our situation. I know the two are not related but it would be nice to know if some of you made it after getting rejected for Scholarship.
 
We are in the same boat as you. Got the nrotc reject letter this past Monday and still waiting on pins and needles for USNA.
 
I know of 2 people who got the scholarship rejections, but received appointments -- and graduated from USNA.

We're in the same boat too. So disappointing about the NROTC rejection. Waiting to hear from the Academy is so difficult!

Thank you very much for that. It's a relief just to know that it has been done. Any ray of hope is appreciated:smile:
 
I got rejected for the NROTC scholarship in early February and got accepted to the academy on Feb. 28th. So it definitely happens!

last year my DS was rejected for the NROTC Scholorship and recieved an LOA from USNA, and an LOE from USMA and is now a Plebe. I think it is more common then you may think
 
I'm confident it is not uncommon. Keep in mind that the NROTC scholarhsip is a national competition and an Academy appointment is at least in part a geographic competition. That would be at least one of the reasons why it might occur.
