I'm an AS200 in FTP now. My flight just received our hardcopies of the FTM. I was wondering if everyone else has too.

I find it very odd that we received our FTMs before hearing back about whether we got an EA or not. Even last year, the FTP cadets didn't receive their FTMs until after hearing about EAs, and that was a few weeks before the end of the semester!

We received ours this week too. I didn't know that about last years FTMs and don't know what to make of it.

Spoke to my DS this afternoon and they did not receive theirs. They are on Spring Break next week and wont' be back until 3-24. With 67 200/250's they probably decided (with the current budget crisis LOL) to wait until after EA's are announced to distribute.

Our det received the 2014 FTMs this past week too, but will not be distributing them or ABUs until after EAs come out, they did it this way last year. It makes sense that they would wait so they don't have to deal with the logistics of collecting them from the cadets who didn't get EAs in a few weeks.

My Det just began spring break today, so I'm guessing that we will get them when it is over. If memory serves correct, I believe that we were given manuals before EA's were announced last year as well.

We have 18 Cadets competing for EA's, which is down from the initial 39 AS200/250/500's we began with in the fall semester. I'm a crosstown cadet and my school's spring break is when EA' should be announced, so the wait should definitely be interesting.

Just talked to DS and he said the same thing as ERAU and Non Decor, FTM's are in but Cadre did not distribute.

Wow, you lost over half of your class over the course of last semester? Mind if I ask why? That amount seems outrageous!

Wow your detachment is down by more than half.

It's got me thinking that some of the detachments might be strategizing for "good percentages" as far as EA's go by weeding out all but "TOP HALF"

as opposed to my DS's detachment which submitted packages for all 67 200/250's (80% of the eighty something contenders that they started the fall with)

If that was the case could be the percentages might not be as low as we were anticipating.

How many cadets in your detachment got EA's last year?

My 200 class is right at what they were last year. Last year everyone but 500s got slots.

All bets are off this year. It is incomparable to other years I feel like. I've heard all semester from Cadre to POC the sub~%60 figure.

Well, sub 60% EA selection would be comparable to the 2011 EA percentages of 55%. Still hoping for EA percentages of the 90+% like the last two years, but realistically with recent budgets cuts I don't think that will happen. But we can hope!

Fingers crossed to 9 more days..... It's going to sail by for my DS...they are on Spring Break this next week...the last thing on his mind is going to be school..

Sure doesn't sound right ...getting the heck out of Daytona Beach for Spring Break. I think next year Matt and his roommates should find some cadets in another part of the country and do a house swap for a week. It would be a cheap way to vacation..

My DS is on spring break too this upcoming week. He is on his way home now as we speak. Only a 5 hour drive for him, can't wait to see him! Hopefully by the time he goes back on the 23rd the EA's will be out.

Lucky you!

My DS decided to remain in Florida and take in some spring training games. Many of his old teammates are playing in the minor leagues. A few of them were even first and second rounds draft picks. He used to catch 2 pitchers that went 40th and 81st in the 2012 MLB draft and actually chose visiting them over visiting me....GO FIGURE!!

To Einheit and ERAUMattmom,

My 200 class has shrunken incredibly because of grades. We have a pretty good handful of cadets who will be 500's next year just so they can hope to get a better GPA. I would have to say that the second most problem we encountered was about cadets getting themselves in trouble within the program itself.

Last year we had 19 Cadets apply, 17 who got EA's and then 15 who made it through Field Training. The year before that, we had 6 apply, 5 who got EA's and there are only 4 who are still in the program after one of them got kicked out because of grades.

I am fearful for myself and other Cadets in my 200 class. Most of those who are remaining are genuinely great Cadets, as most of those who I didn't see as great officer material have dropped. With the low number of EA's that are expected to be released this year, my Det will be loosing Cadets who would have made excellent officers in the Air Force.

You're numbers are right around where they were last year which is good news. Few cadets were told their GPAs weren't competitive in our program, for all we know they dropped for personal reasons.

I wonder if the percentage is low how many people will roll over to 500s.

While at the end of he Fall semester it appeared that there would be close to double the number of cadets as compared to last year looking for EA's, which would have brought the percentages of cadets getting allocations down to close to 50%.

BUT

It seems from the more recent posts that many detachments have lost in some manner or other a significant number of 200/250's that are now no longer in contention for EA.

While ERAU is still up about 50% from last year, it may be that they are in the minority as opposed to the majority of what the numbers are looking like in other detachments across the country.

If that is the case that's good news for those cadets still in the hunt...
.
9 more days will tell...
