Does the USNA have a history of accepting self preps or NROTC students?

Absolutely, I'm still waiting to hear about my appointment(or lack there of), but I'm a self prep. About a third of each class has completed at least a semester at a post high school program.

Oh ok cool, I'm probably gonna go to NWP this next semester. Are you straight out of high school?

No I'm a second year applicant. I go to the New Mexico Military Institute which I highly recommend if you want to prep for a SA. It's a junior college, but is also a foundation prep school for all the SAs except for USCGA, meaning that they send sponsored preps there every year. It also has a specific self-prep program(you have to declare that you're a self-prep) that follows the sponsored prep schedule. This year every one of my classes was 90% sponsored preps so I learned a lot and had a great group of friends, all of whom are headed in the same direction as me! Definitely look into it as a self-prep school!
