I have many questions which my leadership and I are trying to get the answers to. I have received my appointment :smile: and need to know the process for active duty. At any rate I look forward to it, but I would like to have things squared away ASAP.

Is leave between out-processing my duty station and beginning BCT easy and authorized? Would this complicate how they handle releasing me from my enlistment to join the USAFA?

Are their any uniform items that I will be allowed to bring and have ready such as PT gear, white & sand tees, blues shirts, etc.? ABU's would be better bought since there is a difference where the stripes used to be. Boots for after BCT?

Any enlisted that were direct to Academy without USAFAPS reading this? There are many questions that I have. Thanks for any and all input.:thumb:

Congratulations on being selected! I always liked working with Mustangs when I was an Active Duty Marine, so, GREAT JOB!

I would ask your admissions rep., as I am sure they must have dealt with this a few times each year. Seems like someone there would know.
 
Spring Break

Hi Enlisted Programmer! First I would like to echo Navymomwannabe and thank you for your service and congrats on your appointment.

Secondly, the cadets were released to Spring Break after LMD on Friday. Unless they check into the forum after sleeping in till noon (at the earliest), wearing their jammies all day long, and enjoying their deserved break, you may not hear too many responses.

Just didn't want you to get discouraged if responses are slow...

I went to USAFAPS first but that doesn't really effect my answers to your questions.

Yes, it is just like PCSing to any other base. Don't worry about it. I don't know how this would complicate anything. . .

You don't need PT gear, the AFA issues its own "PC" gear. You can just take the stripes off your ABUs. . . it doesn't matter where they used to be. Blues shirts are usually ruined in the process though. There's also no point in bringing blues pants or flight cap or service coat, as the AFA uses a slightly lighter blue in all of these uniform items. It's okay to bring boots for after BCT.

The process from "AD to the AFA" really isn't much different than "AD to Prep to the AFA". Ask away. My first and foremost advice to you is to leave any sense of entitlement at the door, it will only do harm.
