Yet another transfer question!

Yea I know...but it's important and I'd appreciate any help.

I took a pretty major gamble a few weeks back and accepted a 4-year scholarship offer from the Army before being accepted to the school in question. I found out today I was accepted so that's a relief but now a new problem has arisen. I had planned on, and still plan on requesting a transfer to a third school (for financial reasons), I am pretty clear on how that process works. However, the paperwork I got in the original scholarship award packet says that Cadet Command will notify me of whether my request has been granted or not by May 5. The problem is both the school I accepted the offer to and the one I am requesting a transfer to have enrollment deadlines of May 1. Is my only option to try and convince the schools to extend the deadline? What are the chances I could know whether the transfer request has been granted before May 1? Thank you for any help!!!

I know this is off topic , but Libertador, I saw that you received and accepted your scholarship to American University. I was also recently accepted to American, but I cannot afford to attend there unless I do get the scholarship. Do you mind posting your stats, so I can get an idea of what they were looking for? I completely understand if you don't want to.

Of course! First off I'm certainly not requesting a transfer because there is anything wrong with AU. Only because even with the scholarship for tuition room and board is about $14000 and I have a way to cover that cost at George Washington. But anyway I got a 4 year on the 2nd board (the first one I met the deadline for) with these stats:

1410 SAT / 3.4 GPA unweighted / 11x varsity letterman in track and cross country and a team captain / few mission trips but not a ton of service work / and I'd like to think I interview really well / no military family not a member of JROTC

If you have any other questions don't hesitate and I can give you my email if you want! Hope to see you alongside me in the Hoya Battalion next year.

Thanks for the reply :D

Hopefully I can join you in Hoya BTN, I got accepted, and even got a pretty good grant from AU, so all that's left is the ROTC scholarship! Apparently I might know by Monday, so we'll see.

Why would you know on Monday? Do you know something about NROTC that I don't??

Sorry I should have specified, but I'm talking about AROTC, and honestly I've just seen it on some forums, but there is nothing confirmed.

That's where my AROTC scholarship is to. Either way though, it seems you'll be in the Hoya Battalion.

If it does work out, please message me. It'd be great to know one of the other freshmen going in.

American University

If I were to receive a scholarship to American through NROTC will I be able to pool all the other scholarships American would give me? Does NROTC pay the remaining cost for attendance at the university after I have received my award grant from the school or can I just keep all the extra scholarships?

It depends on the scholarships American gave you. You will only be able to use scholarships that apply to Room and Board. Typically, most scholarships can only be applied to tuition and since NROTC has that covered they wouldn't be usable. You need to check the details on each scholarship, regardless of source, to see if they can be applied to room and board. Call the bursar's office at American if you have questions. No doubt they can explain each one in great detail.

NROTC is not available for AU students. Merit aid at AU is limited to tuition only. It cannot be used towards R&B.
