My Son Received an E-Mail...

On Thursday, 20MAR my son received an E-Mail That began with:

"Congratulations on your offer of Appointment to attend the United States Air Force Academy!!
As an appointee, we'd like to offer you an opportunity to attend one of the Admissions Office's Appointee Tours..."

Is this a legitimate e-mail notifying him of an actual appointment?? His status has not updated to "Appointee" on the USAFA site. His ALO stated he is usually one if the last ones to know and can offer no help other than directing him to call USAFA Admissions on Monday? We're biting our finger nails here.... Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

My son's portal updated a week after he received a call from his congressman.
Did the email come via the portal?

It is a legitimate email, as my son received one too. However, my son had also received an additional email on 20 Mar, prior to this one, letting him know to check his portal regarding his Offer of Appointment. And two days prior to this, he received a phone call from the Congressman letting him know of the appointment.

So...eh! I am sure you are very frustrated right now trying to get answers. I would imagine that tomorrow it will all be clear, but I can't imagine the emotions you all must be going through!

The e-mail came from Air Force Academy Admissions

Like I said, it IS a legitimate email from USAFA Admissions. I was trying to point out that from our experience though, that particular email was NOT the Official Offer.
 
Yes, it is a legitimate email! I received one on the 20th of March. I also received a call from my Congressman's office that day as they had just recently been notified of my appointment. I have checked my portal several times since then and it still has not updated to "Appointee" status. I have seen others on here as well that received the appointee tour email and not an official update on the portal. Relax and congratulations to your son!

We were thrown off too. Was expecting something in the mail and, I guess, accustomed to assuming all email is a scam originating in Nigeria. Super stoked here in Maryland.
