Hello,

I am an active duty soldier, trying to go to West Point.

My application wad finished on the 21st of February.

I asked USMA admissions committee regarding my application status. This is the email I received.

you have been deemed qualified to attend USMA. This does not mean you will get an offer, but you are at least eligible to receive one now. You should know for sure within the next month or so.

Does this mean that I got waitlisted? or Does NWL also apply to active duty soldiers too?

I would appreciate any opinion!

It means you can now be accepted. Now they will look at your nominations, and standings if you are on the NWL. So as of now, you are eligible to be accepted. Now it just depends on how your nominations look, and how the numbers turn out. Best of luck!

There are 85 appointments available for active duty soldiers. I don't know the recent history, but in the past some of these slots have gone unfilled for lack of qualified candidates. Every year can be different.

Principal nom just received same email

My son just received the same email. He has a principal nomination and his congressman has been very involved to this point with his admission's status...kinda wondering what is next? The wait is a killer!

I finally received the letter in my portal today saying that I was "Qualified". However, I have been put on the NWL. Does anyone know if that means that I have also been passed over for a prep school offer?

EVERYONE that has been deemed fully qualified is put on the NWL (even those with principal nominations). It is standard "lingo" for the qualification letter. It does not mean you have been passed over for anything. Best of luck to you!

Well, I suppose that's good news. I was assuming that the letter stating you are on he NWL was basically the TWE everyone is speaking of ....?

+1 to My3Sons. However, the fact you are qualified makes you ineligible for a prep school offer.
