USMAPS admittance yet?

Im a female army national guard soldier who is 19 and I'm still waiting to hear back from the USMA. I feel as if I am qualified physically (maxed my push up and sit up CFA and got above average on the rest). I also am very active with my unit. I was chosen to represent my battalion for solider of the year, am in Honor Guard, and was chosen to go to air assault school this summer.

The only thing that bothers me is my grades.

In high school I finished with a 2.6 and got a 1580 on my SATs. I am now in my second year of college and have a 3.1 gpa.


Thats why I am hoping they offer me admittance to the prep school. Has anyone (enlisted or civilian) received an offer to the prep school yet?

Also what are my chances based on what I have listed above.
 
Also I received a nomination from my Battalion Commander. I never received a letter of qualification on my portal. I only got one regarding my medical eval.

Help I have no idea what this means.

There's a good chance that means you're either physically (CFA test) or academically unqualified. If you scored well and above the averages on the CFA then that's a good indicator that the reason you never received the letter is because you're not academically qualified. I believe I saw someone received their qualification notice today, so they may have just not sent yours out yet

I figured I wouldn't be academically qualified and told the officer in charge of soldiers admissions that my goal was to get into the prep school. Does this mean I still have a chance to get into the prep school. Also when I talked to him he said that my application was complete and that I would be notified in the next few weeks regarding a determination. That was three weeks ago should I be worried.

If you believe you are not academically qualified, then prep school should be available to you. From what I've read, prep school is only available to those who aren't fully qualified, therefore you fit the requirements. And I wouldn't be worried, if he said a few weeks and it's only been 3 weeks I would just be patient for now. If you still haven't heard anything in a week or two from now then I'd get in contact with him

You look like a great Prepster prospect. I had a 2.6 out of HS and lower SAT scores. USMA would love to have a top notch prior service person in the pipeline. Good luck on your journey.
 
Contacted my RC today and found out I was on the OML (Order of Merit List) for the prep school and there were several soldiers in front of me. What does that mean?
 
It is my understanding that the OML for USMAPS is similar to NWL for West Point. It really depends on how many are ahead of you on that list whether or not they reach your name to make an offer for the prep school.
 
First - it means that you were not qualified academically for entrance to West Point this year.
Second - there are about 248 slots at the Prep school. You are in competition with many others for one of these slots. It all depends on how your record compares with the other candidates.
New people are being added to this list every week. It will probably be another 2-3 weeks before you know.
 
The good news is you are only 19 and seem to be excelling in your unit. If you don't get in this year apply again next year. Another outstanding year in your unit and increasing your GPA with more difficult classes can only help your chances. Good luck!
