After Finals

What do the MIDN do between finals & commision week?

mine has company specific activities. so I think it depends on your mid, their company, their sport and if they chose a zero block summer training.

We have five or six days of intersessional leave immediately following finals (Last exam to the following Sunday - 1/C till the following Tuesday). Then we report back to the Academy for 0 Block. This is when sea trials, herndon, ring dance, youngster luau, briefs, and more briefs happen. Some days we're just twiddling our thumbs, but we get lots of liberty. Commissioning Week is the last week of 0 Block. 1st Block begins a few days after graduation.

Keep this in mind: We must have one block dedicated to a cruise, another dedicated to professional training (like YPs, sailing, NOLS, summer seminar, etc.), and an optional block of leave. For most Midshipmen, 0 Block effectively doesn't exist. You're just stuck at the academy :)

However, it's possible to have 0 Block training in some circumstances. For instance, if you're a varsity athlete who has a PE Blocker (i.e. one entire block dedicated to your sport), then you might get a 0 Block cruise so you can have a leave block. Others might request 0 block leave if they're doing voluntary summer school because it doesn't count as professional training.
