Anyone know whether there are opportunities to lift weights during Beast? How often? Thanks.

WO

The most precious resource at WP is time. During BCT your time is strictly controlled and probably does not include extra gym time. Saying that, if you are on a varsity level team there may be opportunities built in to WO.

Yeah right...

During Beast your going to be a lil busy during your 7 weeks. However, you will have an opportunity to see the different club sports that will be available after A-Day. The football team dose get their Beast experience cut a lil short to begin practice.

Push Hard, Press Forward

You likely will not get the opportunity to lift during CBT. The only chance you might get would be near the end of second detail, in which your squad leader might make use of an extra hour or two of time after dinner in Arvin (the gym) to familiarize y'all with the IOCT and perhaps to work out.

Work-outs during Beast are organized and conducted in the mornings. They consist of rotating muscular strength/endurance (MSE) days and run days.
- MSE: circuits of push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, dips, and ankles-to-the-bar
- Run Days: Ability groups at a given pace ranging from 9-10 min/mi to sub-6 min/mil; increasing mileage over CBT

Hopefully memory is serving correct for the above descriptions. Perhaps someone with more recent experience in CBT can chime in.

I was suggest(as long as you are not actually in a corps squad sport) go with the track team during company athletics and just say you want to shot put and then I'm pretty sure you can use the gym there.

Thx for all the info!

Yeah, MSE and run days sound right. They were also interval run days (go down to the track and sprint for 1 min, jog for 2) and some other weird thing that wasn't much of a work out and I think they counted as our off day because it was just warm up, do a few exercises, cool down; all stationary.
But yeah, I never heard of a Squad Leader taking anyone to Arvin, I'm not sure if that was allowed. Plan on losing about 10+lbs of muscle if you mainly lift now.
