Hi all, just found this forum. I applied for NASS for this summer, and I still haven't heard anything from Admissions. I submitted my application 30 minutes after it opened back in January. I haven't been wait listed or denied. I did get invited for a CVW, which was awesome, but is that an indicator of successful application? But I guess my main question is, if I haven't been accepted by now, do I still have a chance to be?

Of course there is still a chance. These are rolling admissions. When you put in your application is not as important as what is in it. But remember that NASS is first and foremost a recruiting tool for USNA. They are especially looking to bring kids to the academy from districts/areas that are under-represented.
If you live in a very popular USNA area, you may not get selected just because that is not their target market. It is not a bad thing not to get into NASS. It's just a step in the process.

just a reminder about Summer Seminar and STEM applications! NASS applications close at 11:59 p.m. EST on March 31. STEM applications close at 11:59 p.m. EST on April 15. All NASS applicants will be notified of their status via email by April 15 and all STEM applicants will be notified by May 1. Admission is rolling, so students can find anytime between now and April 15/May 1. Just because a student has not yet been selected, does not mean they won't be selected.

Last year we found out DS had been accepted to NASS by a random post I submitted on the USNA Admissions Facebook page saying he was excited about the possiblity of attending NASS. I posted it just to say he was excited about attending, not 'fishing' for a response as to whether or not he'd been accepted - I didn't even put his name in the post. They responded to my post pretty quickly saying DS had been accepted to Session 2 and will be receiving an email in the next few days. I'm not suggesting you do that via Facebook; however, you can always try calling Admissions to check on the status. I'm sure they will be very helpfpul.
Also, I STRONGLY suggest YOU are the one who contacts Admissions, NOT your parents. It is always best for you, the candidate to take the lead when contacting Admissions or your BGO. Good luck!

+1 to navymomwannabe. I wanted to add that getting the CVW invite at this point in the cycle is a pretty big deal and you should take advantage of it, if at all possible. It will give you a different insight into USNA than attendance at NASS does. If you're invited to both, try to do both. A CVW is not indicative that you will receive an appointment, but it is indicative of their thinking you might be the caliber of individual who could receive a nomination and appointment.
Work hard, make good life decisions, and stay in shape. You're in the running even if you don't get a NASS invite.
