Who is still waiting? What does this mean, this late in the game? Have TWEs already gone out?

DS is still waiting, but his status is pending medical waiver/review so that is certainly part of the hold up for him. Still hopeful....

April 15th....

Is not only tax filing dead line day, it is also the dead line for those to accept their offers. Those that don't accept their offer will be given to the next in line.

The question now is "How many will not accept?"

So two things can happen now. Every year, admin "over books" just a little bit. So some offers may go vacant, others may be given to the next in line. It all depends on how comfortable they feel the class will succeed the next 47 months. Ideal, everyone is successful. Stats show 10 - 12% of a class wash out over four years. 2-3% turn down their offer. Very low rate.

Stats show 2-3% turn down their offer. Very low rate.

2-3% would be only 30-45 applicants, resulting in 96-97% accepting appointments. If 1500 are offered (as rumored) then 1455 show up for R Day?

Wouldn't the decline rate be more like 14-20% (200-300) resulting in somewhere between 1200 and 1300 reporting?

sarahann, there is another thread of people who are still waiting at "lol any good news anyone?" Some tidbits over there about TWE's, waiting, etc.

1500 offers....not true

During the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, class sizes were 1400 to 1500. The Army was big and so was its budget.

Now with things ending so has the big budget and big class size. By law class size is limited to 1100. Not 1100 entering, as every may think, but 1100 graduating. Or in other words, 4400 in the Corps of Cadets.
So admissions composes a class, around 1200. Knowing 10-12% of the class will not finish by the time they graduate.

A low rate of not turning down an offer for appointment can be based on a number of factors; economy, skyrocketing cost of public colleges and so on. Those that do turn down an offer may have accepted an offer to another SA, or college, who knows.

So, if they offer 1234 offers of appointment and 35 turn in down, admissions, may just leave it at that, 1199.

I understand you’re stressed out beyond what anyone can imagine waiting for a BFE. It can be very painful, been there-done that. It has been posted several times to continue moving forward with a Plan B. If WP is where your heart of hearts tells you “its your birthright”. Then seriously look at attending a prep school as a “free agent”. And prepare for next year. Monday is the deadline to accept offers, we may/may not hear of more offers coming. WP does know applicants have their lives on hold right now and are working feverishly to inform folks so everyone can move forward.

Good Luck

I'm also still waiting....

Jarhead....we're from NE Ohio as well. I mention this because after a long and very difficult journey to make the right decision for his own future, DS has declined his appointment to WP within the past few days choosing USNA instead and am hoping that appointment goes to you!

Best of luck and keep the faith.:thumb:

TWE came today. It's okay, I was prepared. Best wishes to those moving forward.

I'm sorry to hear that sarahann. Good luck on your other endeavors.:thumb:

Did your portal reflect what the TWE says?

DS still waiting...medical waiver still pending. With the May 1st acceptance deadline looming for his "Plan B" university, it's getting more and more difficult to be patient.

Our wait is over. The TWE was waiting for DS when we arrived home from vacation. He said he is not disappointed - he has a wonderful Plan B. He also said that he really does not know what he would have decided to do if that TWE had been a BFE. DH and I are just glad the wait is over and are very happy with his Plan B - DH feels this is ultimately the best place for him.

Good news for our DS...medical waiver granted on April 17! Still waiting for the letter in the mail, but both DODMERB and USMA portals show the change! These might have been the longest 128 days of our lives.... but God is good and we are so thankful!
