Remedial and Waiver question

As expected, my son received a remedial status. So we are waiting on the paperwork through the mail to see exactly what it says.

Does a remedial status mean we will HAVE to get a waiver or is it possible to get the information/do what they ask (which we figure is a second opinion and probably hernia surgery) and then get cleared?

I know that the DoDMERB is not who issues the waiver. Do we need to be in contact with his ROTC unit at this point?

Follow the Remedial instructions, it may be that they just need more information, if that doesn't work and he is DQ'd then the waiver process starts. At that point get in touch with his ROTC BN to make sure things are moving forward.

There should be some remedial codes on your son's DODMERB portal. You can look those up on the list posted on the DODMERB website...there is a link on the left side of the home page. With our son, we did that and were able to get started on the remedials and have most of the materials ready to submit by the time the official letter showed up in the mail.

And it's my understanding that there are different kinds of remedials. Some require only paperwork to clear up. Others require a follow-up trip to a doctor. If I were you, I would check the codes to see what it is about and begin gathering necessary information.

I wouldn't stress too much, yet. Last year, our son tore his meniscus and had surgery a couple weeks before the board met. We anticipated the remedial. Once the required 3 month period was up, he was cleared because his medical records showed he had no restrictions.

Not sure why it is not showing any code(s) on there. I know they had mentioned a second opinion on whether or not he has a hernia. So I guess we wait for the paperwork and see what it says.
