When I get to the academy, will I have the choice of whatever intramural sport I would like? And if I do mountain biking, will they have bikes or will we have to bring our own bikes and equipment? Or will we have to buy it all when we get there? Thank you

Yes you get to choose from the sports being offered that semester, but there are only a certain number of spots per sport - and, in my squad freshman got last dibs so there wasn't always room for what you might have wanted.

As far as mountain biking goes, my understanding is you provide all your own gear.

But on this website it says it is an intramural.

I know it's competitive but do you have to be on the cycling team at USAFA to do mountain biking? Is there just an intramural version of mountain biking?

That site is not correct. There is no intramural mountain biking. You can bike on your own or with the cycling team. The cycling team has a number of "slots" which are competitive but also allows people to participate who want to be more casual.

Okay so if I was to make the cycling team, could I just do mountain biking in the fall and not road racing in the spring. Or would I have to do both when I sign up. I have no experience whatsoever on a road bike.

Boxing isn't an intramural sport either. It is a mandatory course required of all male freshmen and is taught in both the Fall and Spring by the IC Boxing coaches. Not the most accurate site. . .

There are members of the Cycling Team that just race mountain bikes. There will also be an open house after BCT where you can check out each of the clubs, meet some members and get your questions answered.

Boxing actually is an intramural in addition to being the required PE course.

not everybody road bikes in the spring but I have a friend who only did mountain biking last year but this year tried out road biking for the first time and is going to nationals so you never know
