So after 1.225 months of waiting, I finally heard back from NROTC about my waiver request. I was diagnosed with sports induced asthma when I was young but grew out of it by 11 and my doctor stopped prescribing the meds at age 12. However, my doctors office never took them off my "active meds" so now dodmerb thinks I still took them after 13 and so had asthma after 13. A no no. Even though my doctor has explained numerous times that this was a mistake and I haven't had asthma since before 13. The NROTC has requested a methacholine chlorine challenge test and then this other thing which is a lot more open ended. I am wondering what all should I include in this because I could write about so much:

R251.21 - Please provide additional information regarding exercise tolerance: signed/dated statement regarding the past 6 months: 1) running (distance, duration, frequency, pace), 2) breathing symptoms (wheeze, cough, chest tightness, circumstances), 3) interventions (inhaler, singular, rest, etc)

I no longer have asthma so 2 and 3 are easy, I have none. However, I run varsity track and I was wondering what they would be looking for in my running patterns. I'm a sprinter but I also do distance sometimes, I'm one of the fastest on our team. I don't get out of breath or anything like that. I just need to word this the right way so that there is no doubt that I DO NOT have asthma so I want to know what they're looking for. Please help, I just want this red tape to be over.

We had to provide something similar after our son's knee surgery re activity level. He wrote a statement something to the effect of "I practice six days a week, 6K-8K meters per practice and I run three days a week."

I would imagine for your purposes you could include # of days you practice Varsity Track, # of meters(yards) in a typical practice, and your average mile pace. I would stress the absence of limitations or difficulties. In other words, just answer the questions.

Although I do not have experience with this health issue, I think it would be beneficial to be as thorough as possible when submitting information. It probably wouldn't hurt if your coach could type up a statement verifying some of the information.

First of all, you have a remedial not a DQ. Secondly, they are simply asking for performance data regarding your running. Tell them how far, fast, and often you run. They want details so be as specific as you can be. If everything thing is as you say, it is likely that DoDMERB simply wants evidence that you meet standards. Do exactly what they ask as soon as possible. Do not overthink this. Best wishes.:thumb:

No, I already got the D241.30 Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13. It was sent to NROTC and after a month and a week they made the decision of R259.01 Applicant DQ - Waiver Authority requests additional information. Secondly, It's just that I run so much and also I don't want anything to be worded in a way as to reflect anything negative. Thank you
