This is a bit of a weird question, but how much is a cadet left with from their stipend monthly? Just want to make sure his will have enough each month to buy the required stuff and when they are given some freedom or if we need to put money in his account.

$100 throughout the first year.
 
Not a weird question at all. The amount left after deductions for books, uniforms and such starts out being very small, sometimes initially only a hundred or so monthly. We put all her graduation money into her USAA account since she already had a debit card. She also took $200 or so in cash to take her through BCT.

After basic, I had somewhere between $500-$700. Most of the times, they'll receive like $100-$200 during the first semester. Little more during the second

Take home pay depends on the month. Some months, cadets will have deductions for uniform issue or other fees (barber, athletic association, year book, etc.) and will take home less pay. Other months, there are no nonstandard deductions and take home pay will be higher. Over the holiday months, cadets will see a bump in pay since they are payed BAH for days spent on leave (approx $10/day).

I was able to find the budget distributed last year for the 2012/2013 year. 4*s had monthly take home pay ranging from $101 to $362 with an average net pay of $218.

I agree. The worst paycheck I got was just over $200 and the best was December I believe and was a little over $400. Buying from the bookstore really hurts for the first month or two and then you'll be buying things throughout the year which will cause smaller paychecks

Good to know. I'm a 2018 appointee and thus have no actual experience on the subject. Every other 2018er I've talked to has said $100. I'll take $2xx over $100 any day.

$100 is an antiquated answer from "back in my day." I believe pay reforms were enacted for C/O 2012 and forward in how and when they deducted expenses.

It varies by quite a bit. For the majority of 2017, average pay (from the grapevine) hovered in the $100 to $200 range, but it was not uncommon for there to be instances of getting a net-zero paycheck for the month, especially after large equipment issues (I'm lookin' at you, $200 parade dress pants).

The thing is, your basic needs are covered. You have food, you have shelter, you're not going anywhere on the weekends unless your cadre are in a particularly good mood, and you're not allowed to use media (music/games/movie) for the better part of the year, depending on your training staff... so what're you spending money on? Not much, really; by the time you really start needing your paycheck, it'll be coming back up from the depths of magic-money debt.
 
At inprocessing for 2016 there was a sheet available to parents which gave an estimate of the pay monthly for the year. I believe they do this each year. I must say, parade dress definitely gave a hit right before spring break freshmen year. Smart thing to do is make sure they submit their taxes right away in jan/feb which means the $ will be in before spring break.
