70 years ago today the Allies opened a second front against Nazi Germany by breaking through the Atlantic Wall and leading an offensive campaign across the northern coast of France; Normandy. Let us never forget the sacrifices made by the generation that allowed us to protect and preserve our way of life.

I encourage you all to look at the student created websites on this webpage:

Alumnus of this institute across the country have compiled a collection of biographies of soldiers who are buried in the American Cemetery in Normandy. Each student selected a soldier and researched them for 6 months before traveling abroad to deliver a eulogy at their stone in Normandy. The stories are truly inspiring and provide for a unique perspective on the time period; through the eyes of the men who fought.

May we never forget the price of freedom.

D-Day 2014 The last reunion?

The last reunion? I hope not, but the youngest of the vets are around 89 years old. All you can do is make sure they know you appreciate their service. The image of these wonderful old men remembering the struggle of their youth reminds me of another similiar gathering at Gettysburg in 1938.

Again to all that served ,Thanks!

Wonderful work!

Why Ike Didn't Attend His Son's West Point Graduation

When John Eisenhower graduated from West Point his illustrious father, General Dwight D Eisenhower, did not attend.

Uncaring father?

Not exactly.

John Eisenhower graduated from West Point on June 6, 1944 while his dad was, shall we say, otherwise occupied across the sea with Operation Overlord.

Regards,
Day-Tripper

There was a true American hero who passed last week, who attended my wife's church here in the area, Chet Horton. He was one of the greatest generation. My DS interviewed him several years for a high school project. His obit says it all. One of the best. Thank you to all you who have served and continue to do so. So that we all can enjoy the freedoms, we have today. His death was just short of the date of the anniversary.
