Hello,

I'm an Army ROTC cadet headed to CFT at the end of the month (30JUN). As I begin to organize all my equipment, I'm beginning to get a little overwhelmed. Just wanted to ask a few questions. I have the packing list, so I know WHAT I should bring. Does anyone have any tips on HOW to pack for Buckner?

1. Are there any important items I should pack for easy access right away?
2. Will there be an opportunity to organize our things in the barracks?
3. Are there any items on the list you found unnecessary/ items NOT on the list that you found necessary?

Any tips/tricks that you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

If its on the list- bring it. You dont want to be the one who didnt follow instructions. Space is limited. You will spend several nights in the woods and then back to the barracks over the course of the training. You will have some time to organize but probably not to buy anything else. It is in the middle on no where. Cell phones usually only work on one hill. Go buy some gortex socks. Have fun.

GoArmy94,

I went through Buckner two summers ago and so hopefully this helps:

Don't worry too much about how you pack in terms of accessing things quickly. You'll change into ACUs if you aren't in them already so it would be smart to have those on hand quickly. You might want to put your PT's near the top of your bag too.

As long as you report on time, you should have plenty of time to organize your things. You'll have a larger closet-like locker for your belongings plus storage space under your bed (be sure to bring two locks for each).

I'm not sure if it's on the list, but it might be helpful to bring some hangers so that you can hang things in your locker. I brought some removable hooks (like a Command hook with the sticky back) which I used in my locker to hang towels, etc. Definitely bring whatever is on the list, but there are is also a small store that has necessities and food (fondly referred to as "The C-Shack").

Hope this helps and have fun at Buckner!
