Early Sunday morning 64 years ago, North Korean People's Army invaded South Korea. The Korean war was a prelude to future warfare. Instead of simple unconditional surrender or destruction of the enemy, things got complicated - MacArthur and Truman, a concept of Limited war, mass media, Cold War, United Nations, and etc.

I'm currently reading T.R. Fehrenbach's This Kind of War, and I highly recommend it.

Sadly, we are losing a lot of Korean War veterans as well.
My grandfather served in Korea, and recently passed away.

Thanks for the recommendation. Some years ago I read his excellent Fire and Blood: a History of Mexico and was saddened by his passing last December.

Like your grandfather, he was a veteran of the Korean War.
