Quick Questions about Packing

I have a few quick questions about Packing for R-Day.

Everyone suggests packing small items into ziplock bags, but would a small pouch also be acceptable? As I find I can fit more into the pouch and organize it better that way. But if the pouch itself would be confiscated then no point to that then haha  .

Also, aside from Dental X-Rays and SSN Card copy, are there any other documents/IDs we should bring with us?

Thanks!

Bring a copy of your immunization records (so you aren't vaccinated a second time). Bring your driver's license for ID. If you've already submitted your dental x-rays, there's no reason to bring another set (and you should have submitted them through the candidate portal).

Immun records

The immunization records were also submitted via the portal. A copy of these records are not mentioned on the packing list.

Just going off recommendations from the WP Class of 2018 Parents FB page (overseen by the official parent communications liaison) -- if, for some reason, medical does not have a copy of your immunizations records on R-Day, you will receive all required vaccines. If you carry the 1-2 pg list with you, you will save yourself from getting unnecessary shots.

Shiba1942- small pouches should be just fine. You'll have a very short period of time to move items from your civilian bag to the bag you're issued, so you'll find that packing items into bags/pouches/etc will be very helpful!

Was just reminded that on page 15 of the "Instructions for Applicants Offered Admission" it states under 2) Immunizations, paragraph 2, "Please bring an additional copy of your immunization form with you to R-Day and make sure all items have been filled out..."

Thanks for the reply forthosewelead! I've managed to fit most of the small items into a small pouch now!

I'll be sure to other documents mentioned too now. They do say to bring copies of the Dental X-rays on the packing list so I'll just bring those just in case.

I'll save some time and ask another question here, what do we wear to Rday? Khakis and the low quarters we bought with dress socks?

Last year my 2017 cadet wore cargo shorts and a collared polo shirt. Recommend something you will be comfortable in as it could be hot and humid Also recommend you wear your low quarters so you are only carrying one pair. You will change into issued gear once it is ready. The clothes you wear will get packed away until the end of beast.

One lesson from last year: my son's phone was in his pocket when we were standing in line. With the rain we had last year, when it went into his bag it came back out wet and with a flakey keyboard. I'd recommend putting your phone in a sealed ziplock before you report and make sure it is dry first so that if anything in your bag does gets wet, the phone won't get wet/humid.

I thought we weren't supposed to bring our phones at all. What do they do with our phones if we bring them? Just keep them until the end of Beast?

Cell Phones...

I would have someone bring your cell phone on A-Day. This will help avoid damage. You won't be able to use them until A-Day. You'll get a chance to talk with your family during the ice cream social, you'll have a 10 min or so monitored call.
