Teacher Eval vs. Letter of Rec

I am currently contacting my professors about getting a teacher evaluation.

I was wondering if these evaluations are more academically based or if they are holistic? What are some of the things the teachers are evaluating? And should I provided the teacher with a resume?

I take all of my courses at a local college, so most of my professors don't know much about me outside of the classroom. But if they are purely academic then that would be helpful.

I'm not sure about the answers to most of your questions, but I thought I would let you know that if you feel like your teachers don't know you well enough to give an accurate evaluation, you can talk to you admissions counselor. I met mine at Summer Seminar and when I told her I went to an online school and my teachers barely even know me, she said we might be able to set something up where I get evaluations from other people instead, such as my pastors or coaches. I don't know if that would be helpful for you but I thought I'd let you know. Good luck!

As a HS math teacher, I have filled out several of these forms. There are several questions regarding academic prowess as well as character. There was also a space for personal comments, too . You used to be able to send 3 letters of recommendation in addition to the required ones from a math teacher and English teacher.

If you are homeschooled or went directly to college without attending high school, there are special directions to follow. Best wishes.

I am not homeschooled, but I do attend a residential high school that allows me to complete my high school requirements while taking courses at Western Kentucky University. Only sophomores can apply to spend their junior and senior years here, so I haven't had the chance to form the same relationships that I would have had with 4 years at my regular high school.

I think most of the professors I would ask for evaluations could formulate an idea about my character from the classroom/office-hour sessions, but they wouldn't be very familiar with my extracurricular activities.

Have your professors fill out the teacher recommendations and use your 3 letters of recommendations to provide leadership and character references for your extracurricular activities. I would think that having WKU professors for your teacher references would be a plus for your app. Go Hilltoppers! (DD starts there in August)

Thanks! I haven't found a good place to ask this, but what does DD stand for? I see these all over the forums and I have always wondered what they meant.

Check the Acronym list in the Community section under General Discussion, but DD=Dear Daughter while DS=Dear Son. Lots of other good acronyms there as well.

These LOR are quite political so if you did well in the class then you should be fine.
